Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginterpretasikan representasi kekuasaan dan strata sosial dalam novel Koloni karya Ratih Kumala melalui pendekatan Analisis Wacana Kritis Teun A. van Dijk. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan jenis penelitian kepustakaan (library research). Data penelitian berupa tuturan dan dialog tokoh dalam novel yang dianalisis berdasarkan dimensi teks, kognisi sosial, dan konteks sosial. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik simak dan catat, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model analisis Teun A. van Dijk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa novel Koloni merepresentasikan kekuasaan dan strata sosial melalui dimensi teks, kognisi sosial, dan konteks sosial. Pada dimensi teks, representasi tersebut dikonstruksi melalui tema legitimasi kekuasaan, resistensi terhadap kekuasaan, perebutan kekuasaan, dominasi dan subordinasi, dan strata sosial yang diwujudkan melalui konflik, hubungan antartokoh, dan pilihan bahasa dalam novel. Pada dimensi kognisi sosial, Ratih Kumala mengonstruksi pandangan bahwa kekuasaan membentuk hierarki sosial, memengaruhi hubungan antarkelompok, serta menentukan kedudukan, peran, dan perlakuan terhadap setiap individu dalam suatu sistem sosial. Pada dimensi konteks sosial, novel Koloni merefleksikan realitas kehidupan masyarakat melalui praktik kekuasaan, penyalahgunaan wewenang, dan ketimpangan strata sosial. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa keterkaitan dimensi teks, kognisi sosial, dan konteks sosial dalam model Analisis Wacana Kritis Teun A. van Dijk mampu mengungkap representasi kekuasaan dan strata sosial secara komprehensif. ***** This study aims to interpret representations of power and social strata in Ratih Kumala’s novel Koloni using Teun A. van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review (library research) approach. The research data consists of the characters speech and dialogue in the novel, analyzed based on the dimensions of text, social cognition, and social context. Data were collected through observation and note-taking, then analyzed on the dimensions of text, social cognition, and social context. The research findings indicate that the novel Koloni represent power and social strata trough the dimension of text, social cognition, and social contex. At the textual level these representations are constructed through themes of the legitimization of power, resistance to power, the struggle for power, domination and subordination, and social stratification; all of which are manifasted through conflict, intercharacter relationships, and linguistic choices in the novel. In the social cognition dimension, Ratih Kumala constructs the view that power shapes social hierarchies, influences intergroup relations, and determines the status, roles, and treatment of each individual within a social system. In the dimension of social context, the novel Koloni reflects the reality of people’s lives through the exercise of power, the abuse of authority, and social stratification. This study confirms that the interrelationship between the dimensions of text, social cognition, and social context in Teun A. van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis model is capable of comprehensively revealing representations of power and social strata.
