Abstract

Fenomena menurunnya minat anak terhadap lagu tradisional Jawa Tengah menunjukkan perlunya upaya pelestarian budaya yang sesuai dengan karakteristik generasi saat ini. Penelitian penciptaan ini bertujuan menciptakan visual storytelling lagu tradisional Jawa Tengah pada audio visual book sebagai media alternatif pelestarian budaya bagi anak usia 9–10 tahun. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui pendekatan design thinking (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test). Hasil penelitian ini menghasilkan audio visual book berbentuk fisik dengan audio yang dapat diakses menggunakan kode QR. Secara konsep dan visual media ini memuat ilustrasi yang disesuaikan dengan makna lagu tradisional Jawa Tengah berlatar belakang kehidupan anak-anak dengan penggunaan warna cerah. Prosedur penelitian penciptaan audio visual book dengan tahapan pra-produksi, produksi dan pasca-produksi. Hasil uji coba menunjukkan tanggapan positif pengguna karena menggabungkan audio dan visual. Kata kunci: visual storytelling, lagu tradisional Jawa Tengah, audio visual book, anak usia 9–10 tahun, pelestarian budaya. ***** The declining interest of children in traditional songs from Central Java highlights the need for cultural preservation efforts that are aligned with the characteristics of today's generation. This practice-based research aims to create a visual storytelling adaptation of Central Javanese traditional songs in the form of an audio-visual book as an alternative medium for cultural preservation for children aged 9–10 years. The study employed a qualitative method using the Design Thinking approach, consisting of the stages of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. The research resulted in a physical audio-visual book equipped with audio that can be accessed through QR codes. Conceptually and visually, the book presents illustrations that reflect the meanings of Central Javanese traditional songs, set within children's everyday lives and enhanced with bright color schemes. The creation process was carried out through the stages of pre-production, production, and post-production. The results of the user testing indicated positive responses, as the integration of audio and visual elements enhanced the overall user experience.
