Abstract
Salah satu aspek yang sangat penting dalam pendidikan adalah kemampuan siswa untuk memahami konsep ekosistem. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang dapat menjadi solusi untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep adalah Model Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, dan Create (RADEC). Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran RADEC terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep ekosistem. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif melalui metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Nonequivalent (Pre-Test and Post-Test) Control-Group Design. Penelitian memiliki jumlah sampel sebanyak 64 siswa yang terbagi menjadi kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen, terpilih secara simple random sampling. Data dinyatakan normal dan homogen berdasarkan uji Kolmogorov-Smirnov dan uji F. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) pengujian hipotesis dengan uji t-test diperoleh hasil 0,000 < 0,05 yang berarti terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran RADEC terhadap pemahaman konsep ekosistem; (2) model pembelajaran RADEC efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep ekosistem dengan nilai N-Gain 0,60 > 0,48 dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran PBL. Hasil penelitian memberikan implikasi bahwa model pembelajaran RADEC dapat menjadi salah satu model inovatif untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep ekosistem pada siswa. ***** One of the most important aspects of education is students’ ability to understand concepts of ecosystem. One learning model that can be used as a solution to improve conceptual understanding is the Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, and Create (RADEC) model. This study aimed to determine the effect of the RADEC learning model on students’ conceptual understanding of ecosystem concepts. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent (Pre-Test and Post-Test) Control-Group Design. The sample consisted of 64 students divided into a control class and an experimental class, selected through simple random sampling. The data were found to be normally distributed and homogeneous based on the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test and the F-test. The results of the study indicate that: (1) hypothesis testing using the t-test yielded a result of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that there is a significant effect of the RADEC learning model on students’ conceptual understanding of ecosystem concepts; and (2) the RADEC learning model was more effective in improving conceptual understanding, with an N-Gain score of 0.60 compared to 0.48 in the PBL model. These findings imply that the RADEC learning model can serve as an innovative approach to enhance students’ conceptual understanding of ecosystem concepts.
