Abstract

***** Tactile hypersensitivity is a sensory processing disorder characterized by an exaggerated response to tactile stimulation. This study analyzes the behavioral manifestations of tactile hypersensitivity in a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the intervention strategies implemented at home and school setting. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected through interviews with parents, classroom teachers, and inclusion teachers, as well as through participant observation and document analysis. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman interactive model, with validation achieved through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that the subject tactile hypersensitivity was triggered by sticky, residue-leaving textures, dirty conditions, and unexpected physical contact; these triggers elicited reactions ranging from crying and screaming to fleeing. Intervention strategies at home focused on a persuasive approach, emotional support, occupational therapy, sensory play, and nature-based recreational activities. Meanwhile, at school, interventions were integrated into the Individualized Education Program (IEP) through gradual exposure, the use of tools, and interest-based motivation. Consistent synergy between home and school effectively improved the child's sensory adaptation in daily activities.
