Abstract

Keterampilan bercerita merupakan salah satu keterampilan berbahasa yang perlu dikembangkan pada peserta didik sekolah dasar. Namun, hasil pengamatan di kelas IV D SDN Kebon Kosong 17 menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan bercerita peserta didik masih rendah, ditandai dengan kesulitan dalam menyusun isi cerita, memilih kosakata, berbicara dengan lancar, dan kurang percaya diri saat tampil di depan kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan bercerita melalui penerapan metode Show and Tell. Penelitian menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dengan subjek 26 peserta didik kelas IV D SDN Kebon Kosong 17. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes praktik bercerita, observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif kuantitatif menggunakan nilai rata-rata dan persentase ketuntasan, serta analisis kualitatif melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode Show and Tell mampu meningkatkan keterampilan bercerita peserta didik, ditandai dengan peningkatan kemampuan menyusun isi cerita, kelancaran berbicara, kepercayaan diri, kontak mata, ekspresi, dan sikap tubuh. Persentase ketuntasan belajar juga meningkat dari pratindakan hingga siklus II. Dengan demikian, metode Show and Tell efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan bercerita pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di sekolah dasar. Kata kunci: Keterampilan Bercerita, Show and Tell, Bahasa Indonesia, Penelitian Tindakan Kelas. Storytelling is one of the language skills that needs to be developed in elementary school students. However, observations in Class IV D at SDN Kebon Kosong 17 showed that the students’ storytelling skills were still poor, as evidenced by their difficulty in structuring the content of their stories, choosing vocabulary, speaking fluently, and a lack of confidence when presenting in front of the class. This study aims to improve storytelling skills through the application of the Show and Tell method. This study used the Kemmis and McTaggart model of Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles with 26 students from Class IV D at SDN Kebon Kosong 17 as subjects. Data were collected through storytelling practice tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using quantitative descriptive methods, including mean scores and mastery rates, as well as qualitative analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Show and Tell method was able to improve students’ storytelling skills, as evidenced by improvements in their ability to structure story content, fluency in speaking, self-confidence, eye contact, facial expressions, and body language. The percentage of learning achievement also increased from the pre-intervention phase to Cycle II. Thus, the Show and Tell method is effective in improving storytelling skills in Indonesian language instruction at the elementary school level.
