Abstract

Dalam penelitian ini, permasalahan yang dipilih, yaitu kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa yang masih rendah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menghasilkan modul pembelajaran menulis teks berita berbentuk flipbook dengan pendekatan berbasis genre. Pengembangan modul ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa yang dipadukan dengan pendekatan berbasis genre. Penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam jenis penelitian pengembangan (R&D). Penelitian dan pengembangan ini mengacu pada sepuluh langkah menurut Borg dan Gall yang disederhanakan menjadi delapan langkah, yaitu pengumpulan informasi, perencanaan pengembangan produk, pengembangan produk, validasi produk, revisi produk tahap 1, uji coba produk, revisi produk tahap 2, dan penyajian produk final. Berdasarkan delapan langkah tersebut, dapat diperoleh hasil penelitian, antara lain: (1) Hasil tes kemampuan awal siswa dalam menulis teks berita masih rendah; (2) Pengembangan modul ini dilakukan dengan menentukan judul, menentukan tujuan, memilih bahan, menyusun kerangka, dan mengumpulkan bahan yang relevan dengan materi menulis teks berita yang dipadukan dengan langkah-langkah pendekatan berbasis genre; (3) Uji validasi produk yang melibatkan dosen ahli 1, dosen ahli 2, dan uji coba siswa kelas VII-1 SMP Santa Ursula Jakarta tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Kelayakan modul yang dinilai meliputi empat aspek, yaitu isi/materi, penyajian, bahasa, dan kegrafikan; (4) Revisi tahap 1 di antaranya mempersingkat materi, menambahkan peta konsep, menambahkan rangkuman, memeriksa kembali bahasa, dan menambahkan gambar atau ilustrasi; (5) Hasil posttest menulis teks berita siswa mengalami peningkatan daripada hasil pretest; (6) Revisi tahap 2 di antaranya menambahkan latihan soal, memperbaiki letak gambar atau ilustrasi, memperbaiki bahasa, dan desain dibuat lebih menarik. Skor hasil validasi yang diakumulasikan dari dosen ahli 1, dosen ahli 2, dan uji coba siswa memperoleh skor rata-rata sebesar 3,94 dengan persentase kelayakan sebesar 78,75%. Jadi, modul pembelajaran berjudul Mari, Menulis Teks Berita! dengan pendekatan berbasis genre untuk siswa SMP dan sederajat layak digunakan. ***** In this study, students’ still-low ability to write news texts is discussed. The objective of this study is to produce a flipbook-style news writing learning module using a genre-based approach. The development of this module aims to improve students' news-writing skills by integrating a genre-based approach. This study falls under the category of research and development (R&D). This research and development process follows the ten steps outlined by Borg and Gall, simplified into eight steps: information gathering, product development planning, product development, product validation, first-stage product revision, product testing, second-stage product revision, and presentation of the final product. Based on these eight steps, the following research findings were obtained: (1) Students’ initial writing proficiency in news writing remains low; (2) The development of this module involved determining the title and objectives, selecting materials, structuring the outline, and gathering content relevant to writing news texts, integrated with the steps of a genre-based approach; (3) Product validation testing involving Expert Lecturer 1, Expert Lecturer 2, and a pilot test with students in Class VII-1 at Santa Ursula Junior High School in Jakarta during the 2025/2026 academic year. The module’s feasibility was assessed across four aspects: content/material, presentation, language, and graphics; (4) Phase 1 revisions included shortening the material, adding a concept map, adding a summary, reviewing the language, and adding images or illustrations; (5) Students’ post-test results in writing news texts showed improvement compared to their pre-test results; (6) Phase 2 revisions included adding practice questions, adjusting the placement of images or illustrations, refining the language, and making the design more appealing. The validation score, accumulated from Expert Lecturer 1, Expert Lecturer 2, and the student pilot test, yielded an average score of 3.94 with a feasibility percentage of 78.75%. Therefore, the learning module titled Mari, Menulis Teks Berita! (Let’s Write News Texts!) which employs a genre-based approach for junior high school students and their equivalents is suitable for use.
