Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bentuk simbol yang Nizar Qabbani gunakan sebagai simbol cinta dalam kumpulan puisi ‘Uhibbuki Uhibbuki Wal Baqiyyatu Takti’ karya Nizar Qabbani dan menafsirkan makna simbolisme cinta di dalamnya melalui pendekatan semiotika Riffaterre. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif analisis terhadap lima puisi dalam kumpulan puisi ‘Uhibbuki Uhibbuki Wal Baqiyyatu Takti’ karya Nizar Qabbani. Analisis data dilakukan melalui beberapa tahapan, yaitu identifikasi bentuk simbol dalam bait-bait puisi yang merepresentasikan cinta berdasarkan hasil analisis terdahulu meliputi unsur alam, spiritual, peradaban-sejarah, metafora benda, serta simbol abstrak. Yang kemudian dilanjutkan dengan penafsiran makna simbolisme cinta melalui pendekatan semiotika Riffaterre yang mencakup pembacaan heuristik, hermeneutik, pencarian matriks, model, varian, hingga pelacakan hipogram. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat lima bentuk simbol cinta yang Nizar Qabbani gunakan dalam kumpulan puisi ini, dengan simbol alam sebagai bentuk paling dominan karena merupakan jenis yang paling dekat dengan kehidupan sehari-hari dan dapat mengeskpresikan banyak perasaan, diikuti simbol abstrak, material, peradaban dan sejarah, dan spiritual. Melalui analisis semiotika Riffaterre, simbol-simbol tersebut menggambarkan perjalanan emosional manusia yaitu cinta yang pada awalnya terasa manis membebaskan jiwa, namun akhirnya menguasai akal dan menyisakan kesedihan mendalam. Di balik romantisme personalnya, simbolisme ini berakar pada hipogram sosio politik Perang Saudara Lebanon (1975–1980) yang terlihat dari representasi runtuhnya nilai kemanusiaan di dunia Arab kontemporer melalui gambaran romansa cinta dalam Kumpulan puisi ini. Secara teoritis, penelitian ini memperkuat penerapan semiotika Riffaterre dalam sastra Arab modern dengan membuktikan bahwa melalui analisis pembacaan heuristik, hermeneutik, matriks, model, dan hipogram mampu mengungkap kesatuan makna yang tersembunyi. Simbol-simbol cinta Nizar Qabbani merepresentasikan puitika romantis-ideologis yang menjembatani duka personal penyair dengan realitas trauma sosial-politik di dunia Arab kontemporer. Kata Kunci: Cinta; Nizar Qabbani; Semiotika **** This study aims to identify the symbolic forms that Nizar Qabbani uses to represent love in his poetry collection ‘Uhibbuki Uhibbuki Wal Baqiyyatu Takti’ and to analyze the meaning of the symbolism of love within it using Riffaterre’s semiotic approach. The method used in this study is a descriptive analysis of five poems in Nizar Qabbani’s poetry collection ‘Uhibbuki Uhibbuki Wal Baqiyyatu Takti’. Data analysis was conducted in several stages, namely the identification of symbolic forms in the verses of the poems that represent love based on the results of previous analyses, including natural, spiritual, historical-cultural, object metaphors, and abstract symbols. This was followed by an interpretation of the meaning of the symbolism of love through Riffaterre’s semiotic approach, which includes heuristic and hermeneutic readings, the search for matrices, models, and variants, and the tracing of hypograms. The results of the study show that there are five forms of love symbols used by Nizar Qabbani in this collection of poems, with natural symbols being the most dominant, followed by abstract, material, civilizational and historical, and spiritual symbols. Through Riffaterre’s semiotic analysis, these symbols depict the emotional journey of humanity, love that initially feels sweet and liberating to the soul, yet ultimately takes control of the mind and leaves behind profound sorrow. Behind his personal romanticism, this symbolism is rooted in the sociopolitical hypogram of the Lebanese Civil War (1975–1980) and the Levantine tradition, which represents the collapse of human values in the contemporary Arab world through the portrayal of romantic love. Theoretically, this study reinforces the application of Riffaterre’s semiotics in modern Arabic literature by demonstrating that through heuristic, hermeneutic, matrix, model, and hypogram analyses, it is possible to uncover hidden unity of meaning. Nizar Qabbani’s symbols of love represent a romantic-ideological poetics that bridges the poet’s personal grief with the reality of socio-political trauma in the contemporary Arab world.
