Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kecerdasan emosional dan strategi koping terhadap stres akademik pada peserta didik SMA Negeri di Kecamatan Bekasi Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 312 peserta didik yang berasal dari dua SMA Negeri di Kecamatan Bekasi Utara dengan menggunakan teknik Convenience sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen skala kecerdasan emosional untuk variabel kecerdasan emosional dan instrumen strategi koping untuk variabel strategi koping. Hasil analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa memiliki tingkat kecerdasan emosional pada kategori sedang (67,9%) dan tingkat strategi koping pada kategori rendah (56,7%). Berdasarkan uji korelasi Pearson product moment, diperoleh nilai signifikansi (p) sebesar 0,000 (p < 0,05) dan nilai koefisien korelasi (r) sebesar 0,580. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara kecerdasan emosional dan strategi koping, di mana tingkat keeratan hubungannya berada pada kategori sedang atau cukup kuat. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi tingkat kecerdasan emosional yang dimiliki siswa, maka semakin adaptif pula strategi koping yang diterapkan ketika menghadapi stres akademik. Sebaliknya, semakin rendah kecerdasan emosionalnya, maka semakin kurang adaptif/maladaptif strategi koping yang digunakan siswa ketika menghadapi stres akademik. Kata Kunci: Kecerdasan Emosional, Strategi Koping, Stres Akademik, Bekasi Utara. ***** This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and coping strategies with academic stress among public senior high school students in North Bekasi District. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The research sample consisted of 312 students from two public high schools in North Bekasi District, selected using convenience sampling. Data collection utilized an emotional intelligence scale instrument for the emotional intelligence variable and a coping strategy instrument for the coping strategy variable. Descriptive analysis results indicated that the majority of students had emotional intelligence in the moderate category (67.9%) and coping strategies in the low category (56.7%). Based on the Pearson product-moment correlation test, a significance value (p) of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.580 were obtained. These results indicate a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and coping strategies, with the strength of the relationship categorized as moderate or fairly strong. These findings suggest that the higher the level of emotional intelligence possessed by students, the more adaptive the coping strategies they employ when dealing with academic stress. Conversely, the lower their emotional intelligence, the less adaptive the coping strategies used by students when facing academic stress.
