Abstract
***** Balance is one of the essential components of children's motor development, as it supports coordination, postural control, and the acquisition of more complex movement skills. However, balance instruction in elementary schools is often delivered through conventional approaches and lacks innovative learning models that are engaging and appropriate for the developmental characteristics of second-grade students. This study aimed to develop a Musical Animal Movement-Based Balance Learning Model that is valid and effective for improving the balance ability of second-grade elementary school students. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE instructional design model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research involved 30 second-grade elementary school students, consisting of 15 students in the experimental group and 15 students in the control group. Data were collected through observations, expert validation, and an effectiveness test using a pretest-posttest control group design. The developed learning model integrates animal imitation movements with musical accompaniment to create an active, enjoyable, and developmentally appropriate learning experience. The findings indicated that the developed learning model was considered valid based on evaluations conducted by physical education experts, motor development experts, and elementary school physical education practitioners. The effectiveness test showed that the experimental group demonstrated greater improvement in balance ability than the control group. The experimental group achieved an average N-Gain score of 0.80, categorized as effective, while the control group obtained an average N-Gain score of 0.39, categorized as less effective. Furthermore, the independent samples t-test revealed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference in balance improvement between the two groups. In conclusion, the Musical Animal Movement-Based Balance Learning Model is valid and effective for improving the balance ability of second-grade elementary school students. The developed model provides an innovative, enjoyable, and developmentally appropriate instructional alternative for Physical Education learning in elementary schools.
