Abstract

Penelitian ini berangkat dari persoalan kerukunan antar umat beragama yang perlu ditanamkan sejak dini dalam diri peserta didik. Sekolah menjadi lembaga pendidikan merupakan sarana yang tepat dalam mengarahkan peserta didik untuk bersikap toleran kepada sesama. Sehingga tinjauan dari penelitian ini yaitu menjelaskan bagaimana guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dan internalisasi nilai toleransi antar umat beragama di SMP Highfield Secondary School. Untuk mengetahui bagaimana upaya guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam menginternalisasi nilai toleransi, nilai-nilai toleransi yang sudah terjalin, serta mengetahui faktor pendukung dan penghambat dalam menginternalisasi nilai toleransi antar umat beragama di SMP Highfield Secondary school. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Dalam menyajikan data yang sudah terkumpul menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi dengan narasumber. Dalam penelitian ini landasan teori yang digunakan terkait dengan toleransi antar umat beragama dan proses pendidikan toleransi. Hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan menunjukan bahwa guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dan internalisasi nilai toleransi antar umat beragama di SMP Highfield Secondary School berjalan dengan baik. Upaya guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam menginternalisasi nilai toleransi antar umat beragama terlaksana melalui kegiatan belajar mengajar dan pembiasaan di sekolah. Adanya praktik kegiatan hari raya agama-agama yang dilaksanakan oleh sekolah menjadi terciptanya toleransi dan kerukunan bagi seluruh warga sekolah. Sejatinya toleransi tidak bisa dilakukan hanya dengan pemberian nilai-nilai, melainkan harus dengan praktik langsung agar semua bisa merasakan segala bentuk perbedaan. Kebijakan sekolah menjadi faktor pendukung serta kerja sama yang baik antar guru dan orang tua murid dalam internalisasi nilai toleransi kepada siswa. Karena faktor penghambat dalam terciptanya nilai toleransi berada dalam diri yang tidak mau menerima segala bentuk perbedaan yang ada. This research is derived from the issue of harmony between religious communities which needs to be instilled early in the students. School is educational institution to become an appropriate tool in directing students to be tolerant for each other. So the purpose of this study is to explain how the teachers of Islamic Religious Education and internalization of the value of tolerance among religious people at SMP Highfield Secondary School. To find out how the efforts of islamic teacher in internalizing tolerance values, tolerance values that have been intertwined, as well as knowing the supporting and inhibiting factors in internalizing the tolerance values among religious people at SMP Highfield Secondary School. This research is a qualitative research. In presenting data that have been collected using a descriptive qualitative approach. The used data collection techniques are observation, interviews, and documentation with informants. In this research, the used theoretical basis is related to tolerance between religious communities and the process of tolerance education. The research that has been done show a result that Islamic education teachers and internalization of tolerance values among religious communities at SMP Highfield Secondary School are going well. The efforts Islamic Education teacher in internalizing the value of tolerance among religious communities are carried out through teaching and learning activities and school habituation. The practice of religious holidays carried out by the school creates tolerance and harmony for all school members. Indeed tolerance cannot be done only by giving values, but must be by direct practice so that all individuals can feel the entire forms of difference. School policy is a supporting factor and good cooperation between teachers and parents in internalizing the value of tolerance to students. Because the inhibiting factor in the creation of the value of tolerance is in the self that does not want to accept all forms of differences that exist.
