Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara communication apprehension dan harga diri pada Mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Jakarta angkatan 2017-2020 yang berjumlah 35.907 mahasiswa. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 396 mahasiswa dengan menggunakan teknik accidental sampling. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode korelasional spearman. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner skala likert. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang positif antara communication apprehension dengan harga diri pada mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Berdasarkan hasil kategorisasi communication apprehension berada pada kategorisasi sedang yaitu sebesar 67% dan kategorisasi harga diri berada pada kategorisasi sedang yaitu sebesar 70%. Oleh sebab itu, communication apprehension yang rendah dan harga diri yang tinggi sangat penting bagi mahasiswa khusus nya bagi mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan yang memiliki jumlah responden terbanyak pada penelitian ini, karena sebagai calon tenaga pendidik akan melakukan komunikasi secara intens ke peserta didik maupun kepada orang tua peserta didik, sehingga mahasiswa perlu melatih skill communication yang baik. Bagi program studi juga diharapkan penelitian ini mampu memberikan gambaran terkait dengan hubungan communication apprehension dan harga diri pada mahasiswa sehingga bisa memberikan layanan pelatihan micro teaching This study aims to determine the relationship between communication apprehension and self-esteem in Jakarta State University students. The population in this study were all students of the Jakarta State University class of 2017-2020, totaling 35,907 students. The sample of this research was 396 students using accidental sampling technique. The research method used is the Spearman correlation method. Data was collected using a Likert scale questionnaire. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between communication apprehension and self-esteem in Jakarta State University students. Based on the results of the communication apprehension categorization, it is in the medium categorization, which is 67% and the self�esteem categorization is in the medium categorization, which is 70%. Therefore, low communication apprehension and self-esteem are very important for students, especially for students of the Faculty of Education who have the largest number of respondents in this study, because as prospective educators they will communicate intensively to students and to parents of students. so students need to practice good communication skills. For study programs, it is also hoped that this research will be able to provide an overview related to the relationship between communication apprehension and self-esteem in students so that they can provide micro teaching training services
