Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh parental involvement dan motivasi belajar terhadap student engagement. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII. Sampel penelitian sejumlah 133 siswa ditentukan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner. Pengumpulan data student engagement menggunakan Student Engagement Scale (SES), data parental involvement menggunakan parental involvement mechanisms measurement, serta data motivasi belajar menggunakan instrumen motivasi belajar. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) variabel student engagement termasuk ke dalam kategori tinggi dengan persentase sebesar 80,5%, 2) variabel parental involvement termasuk ke dalam kategori tinggi dengan persentase sebesar 72,2%, 3) variabel motivasi belajar termasuk ke dalam kategori tinggi dengan persentase sebesar 77,4%, 4) terdapat pengaruh bersama-sama yang signifikan antara parental involvement (X1) dan motivasi belajar (X2) terhadap student engagement (Y). Semakin tinggi parental involvement dan motivasi belajar maka semakin tinggi pula tingkat student engagement. Disimpulkan bahwa besar kontribusi variabel parental involvement (X1) dan motivasi belajar (X2) terhadap variabel student engagement (Y) sebesar 35,4%. Dengan demikian untuk meningkatkan student engagement, sekolah dapat bekerja sama dengan orang tua melalui co-parenting. This research aims to determine the effect of parental involvement and learning motivation on students' engagement. This research is quantitative. The population in this research were students of class eight. The research sample of 133 students was determined using a simple random sampling technique. Data was collected using a Student Engagement Scale (SES) questionnaire, parental involvement mechanisms measurement, and learning motivation instruments. The data analysis technique used is multiple regression analysis. The results showed that: 1) the student engagement variable was in the high category with a percentage of 80.5%, 2) the parental involvement variable was in the high category with a percentage of 72.2%, 3) the learning motivation variable was in the high category with a percentage of 77.4%, 4) there was a significant joint effect between parental involvement (X1) and learning motivation (X2) on students' engagement (Y). The higher the parental involvement and learning motivation, the higher the junior high school students' engagement. This research concludes that the contribution of the variable of parental involvement (X1) and learning motivation (X2) to student engagement (Y) was 35.4%. Thus, schools can work together with parents through co-parenting to increase student engagement.
