Abstract
*ABSTRAK* Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh teaching presence terhadap online student engagement pada mahasiswa di Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Penelitian ini memakai metode kuantitatif dengan metode ex post facto. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dari 274 mahasiswa aktif Universitas Negeri Jakarta jenjang D3, D4 dan S1 yang sedang menjalani perkuliahan online. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Teaching Presence Subscale (Cho, 2017) untuk mengukur teaching presence dan The Engagement Scale (Sun dan Rueda, 2012) untuk mengukur dimensi behavioral engagement, dimensi emotional engagement dan dimensi cognitive engagement dari variabel online student engagement. Teknik analisis regresi linear sederhana digunakan untuk menganalisis data penelitian. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa teaching presence mempunyai pengaruh positif terhadap behavioral engagement dan memiliki kontribusi sebesar 12,9% terhadap behavioral engagement. Hasil analisis data juga menunjukkan bahwa teaching presence mempunyai pengaruh positif terhadap emotional engagement dan memiliki kontribusi sebesar 13,6% terhadap emotional engagement. Hasil analisis data juga menghasilkan temuan bahwa teaching presence mempunyai pengaruh positif terhadap cognitive engagement serta memiliki kontribusi sebesar 12,2% terhadap cognitive engagement. *********** *ABSTRACT* This study aims to investigate the effect of teaching presence on online student engagement among State University of Jakarta undergraduate students. Quantitative method and ex post facto were used in this study. Data were collected from 274 Universitas Negeri Jakarta D3, D4 and S1 undergraduate students. The instrument used were Teaching Presence Subscale (Cho et al., 2017) to measure teaching presence and The Engagement Scale (Sun and Rueda, 2012) to measure online student engagement. Simple linear regression was used to analyze research data. The result showed that teaching presence have positive influence on behavioral engagement and contributed about 12,9% on behavioral engagement. The result also showed that teaching presence have positive influence on emotional engagement and contributed about 13,6% on emotional engagement. Moreover, the result showed that teaching presence have positive influence on cognitive engagement and contributed about 12,2% on cognitive engagement.
