Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan perilaku abnormal dan kriteria perilaku abnormal yang direpresentasikan pada tokoh utama dalam novel Cosmétique de l’Ennemi karya Amélie Nothomb. Kriteria perilaku abnormal pada penelitian ini mengacu pada teori perilaku abnormal menurut Nevid yang memuat enam kriteria perilaku abnormal, yaitu, perilaku yang tidak biasa, perilaku yang tidak dapat diterima secara sosial atau melanggar norma sosial, persepsi atau interpretasi yang salah terhadap realitas, berada dalam stres personal yang signifikan, perilaku maladaptif, dan perilaku berbahaya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan metode analisis isi dengan pendekatan struktural karya sastra. Data penelitian berupa kata, frasa, dan kalimat dalam novel. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini mengacu pada teknik Miles dan Huberman, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat lima puluh (50) data yang mencerminkan perilaku abnormal yang ditemukan pada tokoh utama dalam novel Cosmétique de l’Ennemi karya Amélie Nothomb. Di antara data tersebut, terdapat dua puluh sembilan (29) kutipan yang memuat kriteria persepsi atau interpretasi yang salah terhadap realitas, sembilan (9) kutipan yang memuat kriteria perilaku yang tidak biasa, enam (6) kutipan yang memuat kriteria perilaku berbahaya, tiga (3) kutipan yang memuat kriteria perilaku yang tidak dapat diterima secara sosial atau melanggar norma sosial, dua (2) kutipan yang memuat kriteria perilaku maladaptif, dan satu (1) kutipan yang memuat kriteria berada dalam stres personal yang signifikan. The purpose of this research is to describe the abnormal behavior and the criteria of abnormal behavior represented on the main character in the novel Cosmétique de l’Ennemi by Amélie Nothomb. The criteria of abnormal behavior in this research refer to the theory of abnormal behavior according to Nevid which contains six criteria of abnormal behavior, such as, unusualness, social deviance, faulty perceptions or interpretations of reality, significant personal distress, maladaptive or self-defeating behavior, and dangerousness. This research is a qualitative research with content analysis method, with a literary structural approach. The data of this research are in the form of words, phrases, and sentences in the novel. The data analysis technique used in this research refers to the techniques of Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results of this research indicate that there are fifthy (50) datas that reflect the criteria of abnormal behavior found in Jérôme Angust as the main character in the novel Cosmétique de l’Ennemi by Amélie Nothomb. Among the data, there are twenty nine (29) citations contain faulty perceptions or interpretations of reality, nine (9) citations contain unusualness, six (6) citations contain dangerousness, three (3) citations contain social deviance, two (2) citations contain maladaptive or self-defeating behavior, and one (1) citation contain significant personal distress.
