Abstract

Pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin memiliki sejarah yang cukup panjang di SMA Setia Budi Sungailiat. Sejak berdiri pada tahun 1965, kondisi pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin di SMA ini telah mengalami perubahan dan perkembangan yang berbeda, khususnya pada masa Orde Baru (tahun 1966 sampai tahun1998) dan masa Reformasi (tahun 1998 sampai tahun 2021). Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kondisi pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin di SMA Setia Budi Sungailiat pada kedua periode tersebut sehingga dapat ditemukan persamaan dan perbedaannya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif. Dalam mengumpulkan data, penulis menggunakan metode wawancara dan dokumentasi. Responden adalah orang-orang yang memiliki keterkaitan langsung dengan SMA Setia Budi Sungailiat. Sumber tertulis yang digunakan di antaranya adalah buku dan artikel tertentu yang berkaitan dengan pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin di Sungailiat. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sekalipun pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin dilarang diselenggarakan di sekolah ketika masa Orde baru, namun siswa SMA Setia Budi Sungailiat tetap belajar pada guru-gurunya di rumah masing-masing dengan bahan ajar yang ada. Ketika masa reformasi, pembelajaran bahasa Mandarin kembali dapat dilakukan di sekolah pada jenjang pendidikan formal dengan buku-buku pelajaran yang lebih beragam. Chinese language learning in Setia Budi Sungailiat High School has a long history. Since its establishment in 1965, the condition of Chinese language learning in this high school has undergone different changes and developments, especially during the New Order period (1966 to1998) and the Reformation period (1998 until 2021). This study is conducted to find out the conditions of Chinese language learning at Setia Budi Sungailiat High School in this two periods as to find the similarities and differences. Qualitative research method is adopted in this study. Writer adopts interview and documentation methods to collect data. The respondents of this research are people who have a direct connection with Setia BudiSungailiat High School. Written sources that are being used are certain books and articles related to the Chinese language learning in Sungailiat. The results of this study show that although Chinese language learning was prohibited from being held in schools during the New Order period, however high school students in Setia Budi Sungailiat still studied with their teachers at home using teaching materials remained. During the reformation period, Chinese language learning can be reimplemented in schools at the level of formal education by using more diverse text books.
