Abstract

Partisipasi pemilih dalam pemilihan umum dapat dilihat dari perilaku pemilih yang secara sederhana dapat diartikan sebagai keputusan seorang pemilih dalam memberikan suaranya terhadap calon atau kandidat tertentu yang biasanya dilakukan dalam Pemilihan Umum. Hubungan karakteristik pemilih pemula dengan perilaku pemilih tersebut dapat dianalisis menggunakan analisis korelasi kanonik. Analisis korelasi kanonik adalah salah satu teknik analisis statistik, yang digunakan untuk melihat hubungan antara himpunan variabel dependen dengan himpunan variabel independen. Penelitian ini ingin melihat hubungan antara karakteristik pemilih pemula (variabel independen) dengan perilaku pemilih mahasiswa FMIPA UNJ angkatan 2015 dan 2016 (variabel dependen). Berdasarkan hasil analisis korelasi kanonik diperoleh dua fungsi kanonik yang signifikan dengan fungsi kanonik pertama memiliki korelasi kanonik yang tergolong sedang sebesar 0.50393 dan fungsi kanonik kedua dengan korelasi rendah sebesar 0.32224. Pada fungsi pertama, variabel karakteristik mahasiswa yang memiliki hubungan paling erat adalah suku sebesar -0.68692 dan variabel perilaku pemilih mahasiswa yang memiliki hubungan paling erat terhadap pembentukan variabel kanonik adalah citra sosial sebesar -0.54826. Fungsi kedua, variabel karakteristik mahasiswa yang memiliki hubungan paling erat terhadap pembentukan variabel kanonik adalah agama sebesar -0.65808 dan variabel perilaku pemilih mahasiswa yang memiliki hubungan paling erat adalah peristiwa tertentu sebesar -0.72917. Secara umum, terdapat hubungan antara karakteristik pemilih pemula dengan perilaku pemilih mahasiswa FMIPA UNJ angkatan 2015 dan 2016 tetapi hubungan tersebut tidak terlalu kuat. Voter participation in election can be seen from voter behavior which can simply be interpreted as a voter’s decision in voting for a particular candidate that usually conducted in general election. The relationship between beginner voter’s characteristics and the voting behavior can be analyzed using canonical correlation analysis. Canonical correlation analysis is one of the statistical analysis techniques, used to see the relationship between the set of dependent variables and the set of independent variables. The objective of this research is to see the relationship between the characteristics of beginner voter (independent variables) and college student voter behavior in the class of FMIPA UNJ 2015 and 2016 (dependent variable). Based on the results of canonical correlation analysis, obtained two significant canonical functions with the first canonical function has a canonical correlation that classified as moderate is 0.50393 and the second canonical function with a low correlation is 0.32224. In the first function, the characteristics of college students variables that have the closest relationship to the formation of canonical variables (canonical loadings) is the tribe of -0.68692 and the student behavior variable which has the closest relationship to the formation of canonical variables is a social image of -0.54826. The second function, the characteristics of college student variable who have the closest relationship to the formation of canonical variables is a religion of -0.65808 and student voter behavior variables that have the closest relationship is a particular event of -0.72917. In general, there is a relationship between the characteristics of beginner voters and college student voter behavior in the class of FMIPA UNJ 2015 and 2016 but the relationship is not too strong.
