Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami dan menyajikan sebuah analisis mengenai citra perempuan dalam novel Gadis Pantai karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer yang terepresentasi melalui tokoh Gadis Pantai. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui struktur masyarakat di dalam novel Gadis Pantai. Melalui sastra novel merupakan salah satu cara untuk dapat melihat dimanakah posisi perempuan di dalam masyarakat. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode analisis wacana kritis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan hermeneutika. Peneliti menggunakan analisis naratif untuk membantu menganalisis teks secara lebih menyeluruh. Subjek penelitian berupa novel Gadis Pantai karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer dengan fokus pada teks- teks yang mencitrakan perempuan yang terdapat pada tokoh utama, yaitu Gadis Pantai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat wacana-wacana patriarki di dalam novel tersebut, yang menempatkan perempuan sebagai kelas kedua, dimana patriarki privat yang menjadikan rumah tangga sebagai arena utama penindasan perempuan yang dicitrakan pada tokoh Gadis Pantai. Penempatan Gadis Pantai sebagai perempuan yang berada di inferior menjadikan ruang lingkup dan ruang geraknya berada di bayang-bayang dominasi laki-laki dan mencitrakan Gadis Pantai sebagai perempuan yang kalah. The purpose of the study is to comprehend and to provide an analysis of women’s imagery in the novel Gadis Pantai written by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. This novel is represented by figure of Gadis Pantai that uses sociology's perspective. Furthermore, the purpose of this study is to find out the society's structures. Through novel literature is one of the ways to be able to see where the position of women in society. The methodology of this study is an analysis of critical discourse which is used hermeneutiks approach. The researcher uses an analysis of narrative to analyze text more thoroughly. This subject of this study is a Gadis Pantai novel with a focus on the text that image women in Gadis Pantai figures. The result of the study is showed that there are many patriarki's discourse in the novel that put a woman as second class. Patriarki's private makes an household as major arena of women oppression. Women's lives are restricted by the norms, making women have only one world that is domestic and must obey every command from men. Women seemed to be silenced and accept their fate as women. The placement of Gadis Pantai as a woman in inferior makes her scope and her space motion in the shadows of men domination.
