Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mendapatkan deskripsi tentang relevansi materi pembelajaran yang terdapat dalam buku teks pelajaran Campaign 1: English for the Military terhadap program pengajaran bahasa Inggris di lingkungan Pusdikpengmilum Kodiklat TNI-AD yang direncanakan dalam Kurikulum Kursus Intensif Bahasa Inggris (KIBI) Level I New ALC. Penelitian ini adalah sebuah studi kualitatif yang menggunakan desain penelitian studi kasus. Analisis konten digunakan untuk mengkaji kesesuaian materi pembelajaran terhadap tujuan pembelajaran yang terdapat di kurikulum dalam hal cakupan dan susunan materi. Kuesioner dan wawancara terhadap instruktur Bahasa Inggris di Pusdikpengmilum digunakan untuk memperoleh data triangulasi dan verifikasi atas hasil analisis konten. Temuan yang diperoleh dari analisis materi menunjukkan bahwa materi pembelajaran yang terdapat dalam buku teks pelajaran dapat memenuhi enam dari delapan tujuan pembelajaran yang tedapat dalam kurikulum. Dua tujuan pembelajaran tidak dapat dipenuhi oleh materi pembelajaran dikarenakan memiliki beberapa konten pelajaran yang tidak tersedia di buku teks pelajaran. Dari segi susunan materi, materi pembelajaran disusun secara terstruktur dengan menggunakan konten berbasis kompetensi yang memiliki kesamaan dengan susunan kurikulum. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara, seluruh responden setuju bahwa buku ini telah memenuhi tujuan pembelajaran. Sedangkan hasil kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 78.57% guru setuju bahwa materi pembelajaran tersebut membantu untuk mencapai tujuan pembelajaran yang terdapat dalam kurikulum. This study was conducted to describe the relevance of the learning materials in the textbook Campaign 1: English for the Military student book used by Indonesian Army Military and General Sciences and Education Center (Pusdikpengmilum Kodiklat TNI-AD) to its English Language Teaching Program planned in Kursus Intensif Bahasa Inggris (KIBI) Level I New ALC curriculum. This is a qualitative research which employs case study design. Content analysis is used to study the relevance of the learning materials to the objectives of the curriculum in terms of the coverage and materials organization. Questionnaires and interview towards English instructors of Pusdikpengmilum are aimed to triangulate and verify the data retrieved from content analysis. The results show that the learning materials in the textbook cover six of eight learning objectives stated in the curriculum. Two learning objectives are not covered since they have some unavailable lesson contents. In terms of materials organization, the learning materials are well-organized using competency-based content which is similar to the design of the curriculum. Based on the interview, all teachers agree that this textbook has fulfilled the learning objectives. Meanwhile, the questionnaires show that most teachers (78.57%) agree that the learning materials are helpful to achieve the goals of the curriculum.
