Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah meningkatan speaking skill melalui metode role play Pada Siswa Kelas V SDN Menteng Atas 18 Petang Jakarta Selatan dengan sample berjumlah 24 siswa. Analisis data penelitian ini, meliputi mengidentifikasi tema-tema, mengkoding data, mengusun pertanyaan kunci, mengadakan review organisasi, menyusun peta konsep, analisis sebab�akibat dan display temuan. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah sebagai berikut: keterampilan berbicara siswa dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dari 64,79 pada siklus I menjadi 77,08 pada siklus II. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan speaking skill melalui role play mencapai persentase peningkatan rerata skor sebesar 15,89%. Hasil ini menggambarkan bahwa siswa kelas V SDN Menteng Atas 18 Petang mengalami peningkatan speaking skill Bahasa Inggris. Pencapaian kompetensi berbicara meliputi: (1) siswa terampil menggucapkan bunyi kata dengan tepat; (2) siswa mampu pelafalan kalimat sederhana dengan jelas; (3) siswa terampil memilih kata yang tepat; (4) siswa mampu menggunakan dan menulis dengan tepat dan benar; (5) siswa terampil menyusun kata-kata dalam kalimat; (6) siswa mampu memilih pola kalimat yang tepat; (7) siswa mampu berbicara dengan lancar; (8) siswa mampu mengucapkan kalimat dengan intonasi tepat; (9) siswa mampu melafalkan kata-kata dengan jelas; (10) siswa mampu menunjukan sikap berbicara tidak gugup dan tidak terburu-buru. This study is aimed at improving speaking skills through role play method : an Action research on the Fifth Grade Students of SDN Menteng Atas 18 Petang. There were 24 (twenty four) students as the sample of this study. The writer analyzed the data by identifying themes, coding of data, arranging key questions, reviewing organizations, compiling map concept, analyzing the cause and effect of finding and its display. The results obtained are as follows: students’ speaking skills in learning English increases 64.79 in the first cycle to 77.08 on the second cycle. The results of this study indicate that the improvement of speaking skills through role play reached the average score of 15.89%. The results show that the students of the fifth grade students of SDN Menteng Atas 18 Petang improved their speaking skill in English. The speaking competency includes: (1) students are able to pronounce words correctly; (2) students are able to pronouncle simple sentences clearly; (3) students are able to choose the right words, (4) students are able to use and write precisely and correctly; ( 5) students are able to arrange words in the sentences; (6) students are able to choose the appropriate sentence pattern; (7) students are able to speak fluently; (8) students are able to say words with correct intonation; (9) students are able to pronounce the words clearly; (10) students are able to speak confidently and fluently.
