Abstract

Kemampuan masyarakat dalam bertahan hidup di tengah gegar budaya perlu dipahami sebagai sebuah persiapan awal memasuki suatu kehidupan baru. Hal tersebut memunculkan suatu inovasi dalam memasukkan unsur kehidupan mengenai pertahanan hidup dalam sebuah budaya ke dalam film. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas gegar budaya beserta tahapan penyesuaian hidup dalam menghadapi sebuah budaya dalam aspek visual dan skrip dialog di dalam film dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif interpretatif demi memperoleh analisis yang detail. Dengan digunakannya Teori Gegar Budaya Kalervo Oberg sebagai acuan analisis dan Teori analisis film Dennis Petrie dan Joseph Boggs , penulis menemukan bahwa cerita dalam film disajikan secara menarik dengan memperkaya aspek kehidupan modern seperti pada gaya hidup, gaya pengucapan dalam berkomunikasi, serta ekspresi karakter, sehingga sesuai dengan target penonton pada era modern saat ini. Gegar budaya menunjukkan adanya perbedaan sudut pandang kehidupan yang ditunjukkan melalui ekspresi serta respon masyarakat dalam menghadapinya. *********** The community’s ability to survive in the midst of culture shock needs to be understood as an initial preparation for entering a new life. This gave rise to an innovation in incorporating elements of life regarding survival in a culture into the film. This study aims to discuss culture shock and the stages of the adjustment in dealing with a culture in the visual aspect and dialogue scripts in the film using a descriptive interpretive approach in order to obtain a detailed analysis. By using Kalervo Oberg's Theory of Cultural Shock and Film theory analysis by Dennis Petrie and Joseph Boggs as a reference for the analysis, the researcher finds that the story in the film is presented in an interesting way by enriching aspects of modern life such as the lifestyle, style of the communication usage, and the expression of the character, so that it fits the target audience in today's modern era. Culture shock shows that there are different points of view of life which are shown through the expression and response of the community in dealing with it.
