Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk tradisi penghormatan leluhur pada masyarakat etnis Tonghoa,mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan tradisi penghormatan leluhur dalam budaya Tionghoa pada masyarakat etnis Tionghoa di Pecinan Suryakencana dan mendeskripsikan proses inkulturasi tradisi penghormatan leluhur dalam budaya Tionghoa pada masyarakat etnis Tionghoa di Pecinan Suryakencana. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui observasi, dokumentasi, dan wawancara dengan subjek penelitian yaitu petugas klenteng, tokoh masyarakat etnis Tionghoa , masyarakat etnis Tionghoa di Pecinan Suryakencana dan staf kelurahan. Lokasi penelitian dilakukan di Pecinan Suryakencana Kota Bogor, Kecamatan Bogor Tengah, Jawa Barat. Penelitian dilakukan dari bulan Januari-September 2019. Triangulasi data yang dipakai oleh penulis melibatkan pengamat sejarah dan budaya, yakni Abraham Halim (62). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa bentuk tradisi penghormatan leluhur yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat etnis Tionghoa di Pecinan Suryakencana yaitu menyediakan persembahan makanan, membakar uang arwah dengan simbol kertas perak dan melakukan sembahyang leluhur. Pelaksanaan tradisi penghormatan leluhur dijalankan setiap hari dan pada hari perayaan dalam budaya Tionghoa yaitu Tahun Baru China (Imlek)¸ Hari Penghormatan Leluhur (Cheng Beng) dan Sembahyang Arwah (Cit Gwee). Tradisi penghormatan leluhur dijalankan oleh masyarakat etnis Tionghoa di Pecinan Suryakencana beradaptasi dengan lingkungan masyarakat sekitar sehingga tidak dianggap sebagai tradisi serta budaya asing, sehingga adanya strategi yang dilakukan pertama, keluarga yang mempunyai peranan penting untuk memperkenalkan tradisi hingga menjadi sebuah kebiasaan dalam diri individu. Kedua pada lingkungan masyarakat yang dimana adanya sikap toleransi dan mengajak masyarakat non etnis Tionghoa menjadi panitia dalam pelaksanaan tradisi budaya Tionghoa. Ketiga, pihak klenteng mengajak masyarakat dan generasi muda menjadi tim pelaksana tradisi budaya Tionghoa dan mempertahankan aktivitas sembahyang rebutan. Keempat, Pemerintah membuat kebijakan Bogor Street Festival yang dilaksanakan menjelang Imlek dan kawasan Pecinan Suryakencana menjadi salah satu program Kota Pusaka karena bertahannya tradisi dan budaya Tionghoa. Hasil Proses Inkulturasi masyarakat etnis Tionghoa Pecinan Suryakencana adalah penguatan identitas bernegosiasi dengan masyarakat dan kebudayaan lokal. This study aims to describe the form of ancestral honors in the Chinese ethnic’s community, describing the implementation of the reverence tradition of ancestors in chinese culture in the ethnic chinese community in Suryakencana Chinatown and describe the enculturation process of reverence tradition of ancestors in Chinese culture to the Chinese ethnic community in Suryakencana Chinatown. This research used a qualitative approach with a method of case study. Data for the research were obtained through observation, documentation, and interviews with research subjects, pagoda’s workers, Chinese community’s public figure, and ethnic Chinese communities itself in Suryakencana Chinatown and one of the urban village staff. The research located in Suryakencana Chinatown on Bogor, Sub-district Central Bogor, West Java. The research was conducted in January-September 2019. Data triangulation used by the author involves observers of Chinese history and culture, namely Abraham Halim (62). The results of this study indicate that the form of reverence tradition of ancestor conducted by the chinese community in Suryakencana chinatown are providing food offerings, burning the spirits of money with silver paper as a symbol and praying for ancestor. The tradition of honoring ancestors is carried out everyday and on celebrations in Chinese culture, the Chinese New Year (Imlek), Ancestor's Day of Honor (Cheng Beng) and Prayer for Spirits (Cit Gwee). The tradition of honoring ancestors in Chinese culture carried out by the ethnic Chinese community in Suryakencana Chinatown adapts to the surrounding comunity so that it is not considered a foreign tradition and culture, so there is a strategy first, family which has an important role to introduce tradition to become a habit in the individual. Second, in a community environment where there is an attitude of tolerance and invite non-Chinese communities to become a committee in the implementation of Chinese traditions and culture. Third, the pagoda’s side invites the community and the young generation to become the executing team of Chinese traditions and culture and maintains the competing prayer activity. Fourth, the government created the Bogor Street Festival policy which was held before the Chinese New Year and Suryakencana Chinatown area became one of the heritage city programs due to the survival of Chinese traditions and culture. The result of the Inculturation process is strengthening the identity of negotiation with the local community and local culture
