Abstract

Salah satu cara untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam matematika yaitu dengan menyelesaikan soal dalam bentuk cerita. Namun, kemampuan siswa kelas IX masih rendah dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita, khususnya materi statistika. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis kesalahan siswa serta faktor aspek kognitif yang menjadi penyebab kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita pada materi statistika di SMP Negeri 3 Depok. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes tertulis dan wawancara. Tes tertulis dilakukan untuk mengetahui letak kesalahan siswa berdasarkan jenis kesalahan menurut Kastolan yang dikelompokkan menjadi kesalahan konseptual, kesalahan prosedural, dan kesalahan teknik. Wawancara dilakukan untuk mengetahui faktor aspek kognitif yang menjadi penyebab kesalahan. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif dengan beberapa tahapan, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kesalahan prosedural merupakan kesalahan yang paling sering dijumpai, khususnya dalam membuat kesimpulan akhir. Faktor aspek kognitif yang menjadi penyebab paling dominan yaitu pada aspek evaluasi (C5) siswa kurang mampu untuk menyempurnakan jawabannya dalam bentuk kalimat kesimpulan meskipun jawabannya tersirat. ********* One way to determine a student's ability in mathematics is to solve word problem. However, the power of grade IX students is still low to solve word problems, especially statistical material. Therefore, this study aims to describe the types of student errors and cognitive factors that cause student errors in solving word problems in statistical material at SMP Negeri 3 Depok. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research. Data was collected using written tests and interviews. Written examinations were conducted to determine where students' errors were based on the types of errors according to Kastolan, which were grouped into conceptual, procedural, and technical errors. Interviews were conducted to determine the cognitive factors that cause errors. Data analysis was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner with several stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that procedural errors were the most common, especially when making conclusions. Cognitive factors that become the most dominant cause are in the evaluation aspect (C5). Students cannot complete it in sentence form even though the answer is implied.
