Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran pemahaman konseptual siswa pada pembelajaran larutan penyangga menggunakan strategi Predict-Observe-Explain (POE). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2022/2023 di kelas XI MIPA 1 SMA Negeri 102 Jakarta dengan melibatkan 36 siswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dari lembar observasi, reflektif jurnal, catatan guru, wawancara, lembar kerja siswa, dan tes pemahaman konseptual berdasarkan aspek pemahaman konseptual Anderson dan Krathwohl (2001). Pada penelitian ini, untuk menganalisis kategori tingkat pemahaman konseptual siswa menggunakan kategori yang diadaptasi dari Kimberlin dan Yezierski (2016) yaitu paham, paham sebagian, paham sebagian dengan miskonsepsi, miskonsepsi keseluruhan, dan tidak paham. Pembelajaran dilakukan secara tatap muka menggunakan strategi POE. Strategi POE terdiri dari 3 tahapan yaitu, siswa memprediksi jawaban dari permasalahan yang diberikan, siswa mengobservasi hipotesis yang telah ditulis dan siswa menjelaskan hasil dari observasinya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa gambaran pemahaman konseptual, mayoritas siswa berada pada kategori “paham” dengan rata-rata persentase sebesar 70,25%. Aspek pemahaman konseptual yang berada pada kategori “paham” adalah menafsirkan, merangkum, menyimpulkan, membandingkan, dan menjelaskan. Pada aspek mencontohkan dan mengklasifikasikan menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas siswa berada pada kategori “paham sebagian”. Kesimpulan yang dapat ditarik dari penelitian ini yaitu penerapan strategi POE dalam pembelajaran membantu siswa dalam memahami konsep pada materi larutan penyangga. The research method used is qualitative. The research was carried out in the even semester of the 2022/2023 school year in class XI MIPA 1 SMA Negeri 102 Jakarta involving 36 students. Research data were collected from observation sheets, reflective journals, teacher notes, interviews, student worksheets, and conceptual understanding tests based on Anderson and Krathwohl's (2001) conceptual understanding aspects. In this study, to analyze the categories of students' conceptual understanding levels, they used categories adapted from Kimberlin and Yezierski (2016), namely understanding, partial understanding, partial understanding with misconceptions, overall misconceptions, and not understanding. Learning is done face-to-face using the POE strategy. The POE strategy consists of 3 stages, namely, students predict the answers to the problems given, students observe the hypotheses that have been written and students explain the results of their observations. The results of this study indicate that in the description of conceptual understanding, the majority of students are in the "understand" category with an average percentage of 70.25%. Aspects of conceptual understanding that are in the "understand" category are interpreting, summarizing, concluding, comparing, and explaining. The exemplary and classifying aspects show that the majority of students are in the "partially understand" category. The conclusion that can be drawn from this study is that the application of the POE strategy in learning helps students understand the concepts in the buffer solution material.
