Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari basic psychological needs satisfaction terhadap student engagement pada mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah skala Basic Psychological Needs Satisfaction General 21-item dan skala Student Engagement yang dikonstruksi oleh Giang dkk (2022). Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah 125 mahasiswa aktif S1/sederajat perguruan tinggi di Jabodetabek yang diambil dengan metode convenience sampling. Uji hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik analisis regresi ganda untuk menguji pengaruh antara setiap dimensi pada variabel basic psychological needs satisfaction terhadap variabel student engagement dengan menggunakan aplikasi SPSS 25. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara simultan terdapat pengaruh dari ketiga dimensi dari variabel basic psychological needs satisfaction terhadap student engagement pada mahasiswa sebesar 20,2%, yang berarti ketiga dimensi pada variabel basic psychological needs satisfaction memiliki peran sebesar 20,2% dalam membentuk student engagement pada mahasiswa. This research was conducted with the aim to know the effect of basic psychological needs satisfaction on student engagement in college students. The method used in this research is quantitative method. Two measurement tools used in this research are an adaptation of both the Basic Psychological Needs Satisfaction General 21-item scale and a Student Engagement Questionnaire constructed by Giang dkk (2022). The data was collected through convenient sampling method from 125 undergraduate students from any university in Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Depok, and Bekasi) area. A multiple regression was carried out to test the hypothesis in this study. The results showed that simultaneously the three dimensions of basic psychological needs variable has a significant effect on student engagement in college students by 20.2%, which means that the three dimensions of basic psychological needs satisfaction variable has a 20,2% roles in predicting student engagement in college students.
