Abstract
Studi ini membawa design thinking sebagai model inovatif untuk menantang siswa untuk menanggapi salah satu isu nasional yang paling mendesak: kebutuhan akan energi terbarukan. Studi ini bermaksud untuk memperkuat keterampilan pemecahan masalah dan kreativitas peserta didik dengan melibatkan isu-isu kontekstual dan memfasilitasi mereka dalam rangkaian proses berpikir desain analitis dan kreatif, terdiri dari empathy, define, ideate, prototype, dan test. Studi kualitatif ini melibatkan 36 siswa kelas 10 di sebuah sekolah menengah atas negeri di Jakarta dengan menggunakan berbagai teknik pengumpulan data, termasuk wawancara semi terstruktur, jurnal reflektif, observasi kelas, catatan lapangan, dan tes formatif yang dibangun di atas indikator Rhodes (2010) dan Brookhart (2013). Indikator keterampilan pemecahan masalah, yaitu penemuan, desain, dan diskusi sedangkan indikator kreativitas adalah variasi ide dan konteks, variasi sumber, Menyusun dan mengkombinasikan ide, dan mengkomunikasikan sesuatu yang baru. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tahap define dan ideate adalah tahap yang paling menunjukkan perkembangan keterampilan pemecahan masalah dengan indikator menemukan berkembang secara signifikan. Sedangkan tahap ideate dan prototype menjadi tahap yang paling menunjukkan perkembangan kreativitas peserta didik dalam menemukan masalah dengan indikator variasi ide dan konteks paling signifikan. Pembelajaran design thinking memberikan keterlibatan aktif siswa, memberikan susasana baru, saling menghargai pendapatan, dan memberikan kesenangan. **** This study employs design thinking as an innovative model to engage students in addressing one of the most pressing national issues: the need for renewable energy. The study aims to enhance students' problem-solving skills and creativity by involving contextual issues and facilitating them through a series of analytical and creative design thinking processes, comprising empathy, definition, ideation, prototyping, and testing. This qualitative study involves 36 tenth-grade students in a public high school in Jakarta, utilizing various data collection techniques, including semi-structured interviews, reflective journals, classroom observations, field notes, and formative tests constructed based on the indicators by Rhodes (2010) and Brookhart (2013). The indicators for problem-solving skills encompass discovery, design, and discourse, while creativity indicators encompass idea and context variation, diverse sources utilization, arrangement and combination of ideas, and communication of novel concepts. Research findings reveal that the define and ideate stages are the ones exhibiting the most significant development in problem-solving skills, particularly in the indicator of discovery. Meanwhile, the ideate and prototype stages emerge as the phases demonstrating the most noteworthy development in students' creativity in problem discovery, with the indicator of idea and context variation showing the highest significance. The implementation of design thinking in learning fosters active student engagement, introduces a fresh atmosphere, encourages mutual respect of ideas, and provides a sense of enjoyment.
