Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui upaya meningkatkan kemampuan operasi hitung perkalian bagi siswa lambat belajar. Metode penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan model yang dikemukakan Mc Kernan. Subyek penelitian ini adalah 3 siswa lambat belajar kelas V. Hasil tes kemampuan awal menunjukan bahwa siswa belum memahami dan menghitung perkalian skor yang didapatkan siswa RA 30 poin, CP 50 poin dan MI 40 poin. Data peningkatan kemampuan siswa siklus I didapatkan bahwa siswa RA 40 poin, CP dan MI 60 poin. Data tersebut membuktikan adanya peningkatan dari kemampuan awal. Melalui penerapan metode tutor sebaya siswa lambat belajar dapat mengetahui konsep operasi hitung perkalian dan dapat menghitung perkalian dengan hasil maksimal 100 dengan bantuan tutor sebaya. Pada siklus II diperoleh data bahwa siswa RA 50 poin, CP dan MI 100 poin, dan sudah mancapai target keberhasilan penelitian yaitu 30% dari kemampuan awal. Peningkatan hasil kemampuan operasi hitung perkalian terjadi karena dalam penerapan metode tutor sebaya siswa lambat belajar senang belajar dengan teman sebaya, selain itu memahami materi menjadi lebih mudah dengan bantuan teman sebaya sehingga memengaruhi keaktifan dan motivasi siswa lambat belajar. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan operasi hitung perkalian bagi siswa lambat belajar kelas V. Dengan demikian metode tutor sebaya dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran sehingga siswa lebih mudah memahami pembelajaran dengan cara penyampaian yang sederhana dan mudah dimengerti. ***** This study aims to determine the efforts to improve the ability of multiplication calculation operations for slow learning students. This research method is a classroom action research using the model proposed by Mc Kernan. The subjects of this study were 3 slow learning students in class V. The results of the initial ability test showed that students did not understand and calculate multiplication scores obtained by RA students 30 points, CP 50 points and MI 40 points. Data on the improvement of students' abilities in cycle I showed that students RA 40 points, CP and MI 60 points. The data proves an improvement from the initial ability. Through the application of the peer tutor method, slow learning students can know the concept of multiplication counting operations and can calculate multiplication with a maximum result of 100 with the help of peer tutors. In cycle II, the data obtained that RA students 50 points, CP and MI 100 points, and have reached the research success target of 30% of the initial ability. The increase in the results of the ability of multiplication counting operations occurs because in the application of the peer tutor method, slow learning students enjoy learning with peers, besides that understanding the material becomes easier with the help of peers so that it affects the activeness and motivation of slow learning students. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that there is an increase in the ability of multiplication counting operations for slow learning grade V students. Thus, the peer tutor method can be applied in learning.
