Abstract

Skripsi ini membahas Peranan Ahmad Yani pada operasi militer untuk merebut wilayah Irian Barat pada periode 1961-1963 dan dampaknya pada akhir penyelesaian operasi militer tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah. Sumber yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa sumber primer dan sumber sekunder. Sumber primer yang digunakan berupa arsip, dan koran sezaman. Sedangkan sumber sekunder yang digunakan adalah buku yang berkaitan dengan tema penelitian. Operasi Militer Pembebasan Irian Barat merupakan peristiwa penting dalam perjalanan sejarah bangsa Indonesia. Usaha-usaha diplomasi yang gagal dari tahun 1950 membuat Pemerintah Indonesia mengambil tindakan konfrontasi militer. Di dalam waktu yang relatif singkat Angkatan Perang Indonesia bertambah beberapa kali lipat dari sebelumnya dan menjadi negara terkuat di Asia Tenggara. Terbentuknya Komando Tertinggi Pembebasan Irian Barat (Koti Pemimbar) dan Ahmad Yani diangkat sebagai Kepala Staf merangkap menjadi juru bicara melengkapi persiapan-persiapan untuk menangani operasi militer di Irian Barat. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Ahmad Yani selama operasi militer berlangsung berperan memberi pertimbangan dan keputusan-keputusan militer selama fase serangan terbuka dan melaksanakan perintah dari Panglima Tertinggi, dan menunjuk beberapa perwira untuk diterjunkan di lapangan. Akhir dari operasi tersebut, Ahmad Yani menjadi wakil Indonesia untuk penyerahan pemerintahan Irian Barat kepada Indonesia. Study Program of History Education, Faculty of Social Sciences, Jakarta State University. 2020 This research discusses the role of Ahmad Yani in military operations to seize the territory of West Irian in the period 1961-1963 and its impact on the completion of the military operation. This research uses historical research methods. The sources used in this study are primary and secondary sources. Primary sources used in the form of archives, and contemporary newspapers. While the secondary sources used are books related to the theme of .research The Military Operation for the Liberation of West Irian was a important event in the history of the Indonesian people. The failed diplomatic efforts from 1950 made the Indonesian Government take military confrontation. In a relatively short period of time the Indonesian Armed Forces increased several times from before and became the strongest country in Southeast Asia. The formation of the Supreme Command for the Liberation of West Irian (Koti Pemimbar) and Ahmad Yani were appointed as Chief of Staff and concurrently the spokesperson to complete preparations for handling military operations in West Irian. The results of this study concluded that Ahmad Yani during the military operations took place giving military considerations and decisions during the open attack phase and carrying out orders from the Supreme Commander, and appointed several officers to be deployed in the field. At the end of the operation, Ahmad Yani became Indonesia's representative for the surrender of the West Irian government to Indonesia.
