Universitas Negeri Jakarta. 2024. *****ABSTRAK***** Penelitian ini memiliki tiga tujuan, yaitu (1) mengetahui perwatakan tokoh utama pada novel Katarsis karya Anastasia Aemilia, (2) mengetahui struktur kepribadian tokoh utama, dan (3) mengetahui dinamika kepribadian tokoh utama. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah psikologi sastra dengan menggunakan teori psikoanalisis oleh Sigmund Freud. Teori psikoanalisis Sigmund Freud digunakan untuk menganalisis dua tujuan utama penelitian psikoanalisis ini, yaitu struktur kepribadian (id, ego, dan super ego) serta dinamika kepribadian (naluri, kecemasan, dan mekanisme pertahanan ego) tokoh utama. Sebelum mengidentifikasi dinamika kepribadian tokoh utama, terlebih dahulu dianalisis perwatakan tokoh utama dengan teori fakta cerita oleh Robert Stanton yang memuat latar, alur, dan karakter. Penelitian psikoanalisis ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Adapun data diperoleh dari kutipan-kutipan pada novel yang memuat aspek-aspek struktur kepribadian dan dinamika kepribadian sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa id tokoh utama mendominasi sehingga ego tidak tunduk pada super ego yang berperan mengatur tindakan sesuai hukum moral. Novel Katarsis mengangkat masalah kejiwaan berupa trauma berat yang dialami tokoh utama akibat tindakan kejamnya di masa lalu dan tragedi pembantaian di rumah keluarganya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tiga kesimpulan, yakni (1) naluri kematian tokoh utama sangat mendominasi sehingga memicunya bertindak kejam, (2) tokoh utama mengalami kecemasan realitas, kecemasan neurotik, serta kecemasan moral karena trauma akibat tragedi pembantaian di masa lalu, dan (3) terbentuk lima mekanisme pertahanan ego (represi, proyeksi, reaksi formasi, regresi, dan fiksasi) untuk mengatasi kecemasan tokoh utama yang diakibatkan oleh trauma dengan mekanisme represi yang paling sering terbentuk. Personality Dynamics of the Main Character of Anastasia Aemilia's Cathartic Novel: Psychoanalytic Study. Thesis. Jakarta. Indonesian Literature Study Program. Faculty of Language and Art. State University of Jakarta. 2024. *********ABSTRACT****** This research has three objectives, namely (1) knowing the character of the main character of the novel Katharsis by Anastasia Aemilia, (2) knowing the personality structure of the main character, and (3) knowing the dynamics of the main character's personality. The approach used in this research is literary psychology using the theory of psychoanalysis by Sigmund Freud. Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory is used to analyze the two main objectives of this psychoanalytic research, namely the personality structure (id, ego, and super ego) and personality dynamics (instincts, anxiety, and ego defense mechanisms) of the main character. Before identifying the personality dynamics of the main character, the main character's character is first analyzed using Robert Stanton's theory of story facts which includes setting, plot and character. This psychoanalytic research uses qualitative descriptive methods. Data was obtained from quotations from novels which contain aspects of personality structure and personality dynamics in accordance with the research objectives. The research results show that the main character's id dominates so that the ego is not subject to the super ego which plays a role in regulating actions according to moral law. The novel Catharsis raises mental problems in the form of severe trauma experienced by the main character due to cruel actions in the past and the tragedy of the massacre at her family's house. The results of the research show three conclusions, namely (1) the main character's death instinct dominates so much that it triggers her to act cruelly, (2) the main character experiences reality anxiety, neurotic anxiety, and moral anxiety due to trauma resulting from the massacre tragedy in the past, and (3) it is formed five ego defense mechanisms (repression, projection, reaction formation, regression, and fixation) to overcome the main character's anxiety caused by trauma with the most frequently formed repression mechanism.
