Abstract

Skripsi ini berisikan rekonstruksi perkembangan surat kabar Pikiran Rakyat dalam pemberitaan pendidikan di tahun 1975 hingga tahun 1998. Tahun 1975 dipilih karena tahun ini menjadi bagian dari masa pemerintahan Rezim Orde Baru yang melakukan rancangan perubahan pertama kali dalam sistem pendidikan Kurikulum 1975 sebagai bentuk peralihan dari sistem pendidikan sebelumnya. Lalu, tahun 1998 dipilih karena tahun ini menjadi ujung dari berakhirnya masa Orde Baru. Sejalan dengan akan terselesaikannya masa Orde Baru menimbulkan banyak pergolakan panas yang tersentralisasi kepada politik dan ekonomi saja, tanpa menyinggung atau memperhatikan cakupan pendidikan di tahun itu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian Historis dengan langkah penelitian Heuristik, Verifikasi, Interpretasi dan Historiografi. Dengan Teknik penulisan deskriptif-naratif. Hasil penelitian ini adalah dengan mengungkapkan mengenai sejarah perkembangan surat kabar Pikiran Rakyat yang terbagi menjadi dua periode. Periode pertama di tahun 1950 dengan nama Pikiran Rakjat dan periode kedua di tahun 1967. Surat kabar Pikiran Rakyat dapat membangun mitra dengan lembaga pendidikan seperti Departemen Pendidikan, Dinas P & K, Perguruan Tinggi, Sekolah, dan Mahasiswa guna mendapatkan informasi yang tervalidasi. Melihat kondisi pendidikan Orde Baru di tahun 1975 sampai 1998 banyak mengalami perubahan mulai dari perubahan kebijakan kurikulum, perspektif masyarakat terhadap pendidikan, dan kondisi kesejahteraan guru menjadi isu yang selalu dibahas. Cara Pikiran Rakyat menjaga kualitas pemberitaannya dengan melakukan beberapa proses seperti mencari berita, menuliskan berita dan pengecekan kelayakan isi berita, sampai dengan menjaga kualitas percetakan dan penerbitan. Hal terpenting adalah keterbukaan Pikiran Rakyat kepada masyarakat dengan memberikan fasilitas “Kolom Pembaca” guna memudahkan pembaca dalam memberikan kritik dan saran pada berita. This thesis contains a reconstruction of the development of Pikiran Rakyat newspaper in reporting education from 1975 to 1998. The year 1975 was chosen because this year became part of the reign of the New Order regime which made the first design changes in the 1975 Curriculum education system as a form of transition from the previous education system. Then, 1998 was chosen because this year was the end of the New Order period. In line with the end of the New Order period, there were many hot upheavals that were centralised on politics and economics alone, without mentioning or paying attention to the scope of education in that year. The research method used in this research is the Historical research method with the research steps of Heuristics, Verification, Interpretation and Historiography. With descriptive-narrative writing technique. The result of this research is to reveal the history of the development of Pikiran Rakyat newspaper which is divided into two periods. The first period in 1950 under the name Pikiran Rakjat and the second period in 1967. Pikiran Rakyat newspaper can build partnerships with educational institutions such as the Department of Education, P & K Office, Colleges, Schools, and Students to obtain validated information. Seeing the condition of New Order education from 1975 to 1998, there were many changes, starting from changes in curriculum policies, people's perspectives on education, and the condition of teacher welfare, which were always discussed. The way Pikiran Rakyat maintains the quality of its reporting is by carrying out several processes such as finding news, writing news and checking the feasibility of news content, to maintaining the quality of printing and publishing. The most important thing is Pikiran Rakyat's openness to the community by providing a ‘Reader Column’ facility to facilitate readers in providing criticism and suggestions on the news.
