Abstract

ABSTRAK Mitologi vampir pertama kali diyakini oleh orang-orang Eropa kuno dengan cerita-cerita menakutkan dan kisah-kisah mengerikan di seluruh desa pada tahun 1800-an. Pertumbuhan cerita ini telah berkembang dengan beberapa perubahan bentuk dan modifikasi dari mitologi aslinya yang menjadi tujuan penelitian ini. Perbedaan di Twilight Saga dalam hal penampilan fisik, kebiasaan vampir, dan metode pemusnahannya dapat ditunjukkan dalam kontras yang tajam dengan membedah alur cerita menggunakan tiga puluh satu fungsi dari teori morfologi oleh Vladimir Propp. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami struktur Twilight Saga secara komprehensif dan menganalisis penyimpangan sesuai fungsinya. Jika dibandingkan dengan vampir sesuai dengan mitologi Eropa, hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa alur cerita Twilight Saga bergerak secara linear melalui tiga puluh satu fungsi yang mempresentasikan evolusi vampir modern dengan kemampuan khusus seperti kemampuan mendengar pikiran orang lain, melihat masa depan, dan melindungi diri dengan perisai dari bahaya, lebih bersosialisasi dengan manusia dan menggunakan kekebalan mereka terhadap matahari untuk menjadi makhluk berpendidikan di berbagai bidang. Studi ini menemukan bahwa ada tiga fungsi yang mengindikasikan metode pemusnahan vampir dan seluruh tiga puluh satu fungsi mengandung deskripsi vampir dalam hal penampilan fisik dan juga kebiasaannya. Selain itu, plot tersebut tidak berfungsi dengan baik karena ada tujuh fungsi yang tidak terbentuk dengan benar ketika sosok vampir tidak digambarkan seperti yang dideskripsikan dalam Twilight Saga. The growth of this story has evolved with some tranformations and modifications against the mythology in which becomes the purpose of this study. The deviations of Twilight Saga in terms of physical appearance, vampire habit, and the destruction method can be shown in a sharp contrast by dissecting the storyline with thirty-one functions of morphological structure theory by Vladimir Propp. This study aims to comprehend the Twilight Saga structure comprehensively and analyze the deviations according to its function. When compared to vampires according to European mythology, the results show that the Twilight Saga storyline moves linearly through thirty-one functions that present the evolution of modern vampires with special abilities such as the ability to hear the thoughts of others, see the future, and protect themselves with a shield from danger, more sociable with humans and use their immunity to the sun to become highly educated creatures in various fields. This study found that there are three functions which indicate the method of vampire destruction and each of the thirty-one functions contain vampire descriptions in terms of physical appearance and their habits. In addition, the plot does not work properly because there are seven functions that are not formed correctly when the vampire figure is not explained as told in Twilight Saga.
