Abstract

Skripsi ini mengkaji tentang pers di masa orde baru yang mengalami pembatasan kebebasan dengan melakukan berbagai peraturan perundang-undangan yang dikeluarkan pemerintah untuk pers agar tidak melakukan kritik kepada pemerintah yang nantinya dapat mengganggu stabilitas nasional. Dalam penelitian ini, permasalahan yang diangkat yaitu: (1) pembatasan kebebasan pers; (2) polemik yang muncul antara pers dan pemerintah. Sedangkan tujuan peneliti dalam penelitian ini adalah: (1) mengetahui dan mengkaji yang menjadi latar belakang pembatasan kebebasan pers di masa Orde Baru. Penelitian ini memiliki manfaat antara lain: (1) Bagi Ilmu Pengetahuan sebagai media penambah wawasan mengenai pers di masa orde baru. (2) Bagi calon guru Sejarah dan mahasiswa sebagai bahan ajar dan referensi dalam bidang sejarah. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode sejarah dengan pendekatan kajian pustaka. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada peristiwa Malari, pers mengalami pembredelan yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah karena pers melakukan kritik atas kebijakan yang dikeluarkan oleh pemerintah. Kesimpulan penelitian ini bahwa pers masa orde baru memiliki keterbatasan dalam menyampaikan informasi dengan adanya peraturan dari pemerintah membuat ruang gerak pers seakan dibatasi. Kata Kunci: Pers, Pemerintah, Kebebasan, Polemik, Orde Baru ********** This thesis examines the press during the New Order era which experienced restrictions on freedom by carrying out various laws and regulations issued by the government for the press so as not to criticize the government which could later disrupt national stability. In this research, the issues raised are: (1) restrictions on press freedom; (2) polemics that arise between the press and the government. Meanwhile, the researcher's objectives in this study are: (1) to know and examine the background of restrictions on press freedom during the New Order era. This research has benefits, among others: (1) For science as a medium to add insight into the press during the new order. (2) For prospective History teachers and students as teaching materials and references in the field of history. This research method uses a historical method with a literature review approach. The results of this study show that in the Malari incident, the press experienced banning by the government because the press criticized the policies issued by the government. The conclusion of this research is that the press during the new order had limitations in conveying information with the existence of regulations from the government making the press space seem limited.
