Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengemukakan keterkaitan latar belakang keluarga Teungku Hasan Di Tiro, lingkungan masyarakat, dan pendidikan Teungku Hasan Di Tiro dari Sekolah Dasar hingga Teungku Hasan Di Tiro menyelesaikan kuliahnya di Columbia University Amerika dapat mempengaruhi munculnya gagasan Teungku Hasan Di Tiro dalam membentuk Gerakan Aceh Merdeka (GAM). Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menjabarkan “strategi” Teungku Hasan Di Tiro dalam Gerakan Aceh Merdeka yang berlangsung dari tahun 1976 sampai tahun 2005, serta untuk mengetahui latar belakang upaya penerimaan GAM terhadap upaya perdamaian melalui nota kesepahaman antara Pemerintah Indonesia dengan Gerakan Aceh Merdeka (GAM) pada tanggal 15 Agustus 2005 di Helsinki. Metode yang digunakan untuk kajian penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian historis dan ditulis secara deskriptif naratif yang terdiri dari pemilihan topik, heuristik, verifikasi, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Gerakan Aceh Merdeka dilakukan oleh Teungku Hasan Di Tiro awalnya melalui pendekatan kekeluargaan dengan kakaknya yakni Tgk. Zainal Abidin Tiro serta Daud Beureuh yang merupakan tokoh pemberontakan DI/TII, serta ada beberapa gagasan Teungku Hasan Di Tiro dalam pembentukan Gerakan Aceh Merdeka diantaranya mewujudkan kemerdekaan Aceh di masa lampau dengan gagasan negara tua (old state) atau negara sambung, serta gagasan Teungku Hasan Di Tiro mengenai ketidakadilan penjajahan orang-orang Jawa atas kekayaan Aceh, Teungku Hasan Di Tiro berpendapat Aceh merdeka bukan suatu negara baru, melainkan menghidupkan kembali kejayaan kerajaan Aceh yang pernah berkuasa ratusan tahun lalu sebelum Indonesia merdeka, oleh karena itu muncul kesadaran Teungku Hasan Di Tiro untuk memberontak dan mendirikan Aceh Sumatra National Liberation Front (ASNLF) menggunakan strategi politik maupun militer, perdamaian antara Teungku Hasan Di Tiro dengan pemerintah dapat dilihat dari perubahan tujuan perjuangan Teungku Hasan Di Tiro, serta pola perjuangan politiknya yang pada akhirnya harus berakhir di meja perundingan Helsinki. Kata Kunci: Teungku Hasan Di Tiro, Gerakan Aceh Merdeka, Strategi, ***** The purpose of this study is to reveal the relationship between Teungku Hasan Di Tiro's family background, community environment, and Teungku Hasan Di Tiro's education from elementary school until Teungku Hasan Di Tiro completed his studies at Columbia University in America that influenced Teungku Hasan Di Tiro's ideas in forming the Free Aceh Movement (GAM). This study also aims to describe Teungku Hasan Di Tiro's “strategy” in the Free Aceh Movement which lasted from 1976 to 2005, and to find out the background of GAM's acceptance of peace efforts through a memorandum of understanding between the Government of Indonesia and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) on August 15, 2005 in Helsinki. The method used for this research study is the historical research method and is written in a descriptive narrative consisting of topic selection, heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. The results showed that the Free Aceh Movement was carried out by Teungku Hasan Di Tiro initially through a family approach with his brother, Tgk. Zainal Abidin Tiro and Daud Beureuh who was a figure in the DI/TII rebellion, and there are several ideas of Teungku Hasan Di Tiro in the formation of the Free Aceh Movement including realizing Aceh's independence in the past with the idea of an old state or continued state, as well as Teungku Hasan Di Tiro's ideas regarding the injustice of the colonization of the Javanese over Aceh's wealth, Teungku Hasan Di Tiro argues that an independent Aceh is not a new country, Therefore, Teungku Hasan Di Tiro's awareness emerged to rebel and establish the Aceh Sumatra National Liberation Front (ASNLF) using political and military strategies, peace between Teungku Hasan Di Tiro and the government can be seen from changes in Teungku Hasan Di Tiro's struggle goals, as well as the pattern of his political struggle which ultimately had to end at the Helsinki negotiating table.
