Abstract

***** This research aims to obtain an overview of students' conceptual understanding using the POGIL model assisted by SSI on salt hydrolysis material. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 81 Jakarta in the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The subjects of this research were class XI-5, totaling 36 students. The method used is qualitative. Data collection techniques were used the Three Tier Multiple Choice (TTMC) instrument, reflective sheets, observation, interviews, and documentation. The learning model applied in this research is Process-Oriented-Guided-Inquiry-Learning (POGIL) which integrates Socio-Scientific Issues as a learning resource with five stages: orientation, exploration, concept discovery, application, and conclusion. The research results show that the highest category of understanding obtained is understanding the concept with a percentage of 55%, which shows that most students answered correctly and felt confident in the answers chosen in the salt hydrolysis material. The comparing indicator is the highest indicator obtained with a percentage of 81%, showing that 29 students could answer correctly and confidently on this indicator question. The use of the Process-Oriented-Guided-Inquiry-Learning (POGIL) model which is integrated with Socio-Scientific Issues has a positive impact on students during learning.
