Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis adaptasi plot dalam novel Persuasion karya Jane Austen (1817) ke dalam versi filmnya karya Carrie Cracknell (2022) dengan menggunakan pendekatan Linda Hutcheon terhadap adaptasi dan intertekstualitas. Melalui analisis terhadap perubahan dalam struktur naratif, antara novel dan film, penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa adaptasi tersebut mengintegrasikan elemen dari teks sumber sambil memperkenalkan interpretasi kreatif yang sesuai dengan medium sinematik. Kerangka teoretis Hutcheon mengilustrasikan bahwa film Persuasion tidak hanya mencerminkan kesetiaan pada materi sumber, tetapi juga mengeksplorasi teknik penceritaan visual untuk memperkaya pengalaman naratifnya. Analisis intertekstualitas dalam studi ini menyoroti bagaimana film mengacu kembali dan menginterpretasikan tema-tema utama dari novel Austen, menunjukkan dialog yang kompleks antara teks sumber dan adaptasi filmnya. Penemuan ini menegaskan keberhasilan adaptasi dalam menjaga esensi inti karya Austen sambil menyesuaikan dengan konvensi sinematik modern dan harapan audiens saat ini. / *****This study aims to analyse the adaptation of the plot in Jane Austen's Persuasion (1817) to its film version by Carrie Cracknell (2022) using Linda Hutcheon's approach to adaptation and intertextuality. Through an analysis of the changes in narrative structure, between novel and film, the study reveals that the adaptation integrates elements from the source text while introducing creative interpretations appropriate to the cinematic medium. Hutcheon's theoretical framework illustrates that the film Persuasion not only reflects fidelity to the source material, but also explores visual storytelling techniques to enrich the narrative experience. The intertextuality analysis in this study highlights how the film refers back to and interprets key themes from Austen's novel, demonstrating a complex dialogue between the source text and its film adaptation. The findings confirm the success of the adaptation in maintaining the core essence of Austen's work while adapting to modern cinematic conventions and current audience expectations.*****
