Abstract
**************************************** The results show that the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of social restriction policies have a negative impact on the dynamics of the lives of informal sector workers which socially and economically impede work activities as well as a 30-85% decrease in income and even the loss of income from informal sector workers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, there were still many ineffectiveness in the distribution of social assistance from the government to assist informal workers in dealing with the outbreak. Absolute poor conditions due to economic difficulties, the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of its policies, and the lack of social assistance programs during the pandemic have encouraged informal sector workers as the most affected group to switch to work activities as silver people to survive. Becoming a silver man is a form of subsistence ethics as well as a self-help strategy that puts forward the principles of safety first and self-exploitation carried out by informal sector workers in surviving the crisis conditions of poverty and the covid-19 pandemic that occurred.
