Abstract

***************************************************** The Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) as a substitute for the National Examination is one of the instruments that the government is currently implementing and developing to measure the quality of education of Indonesian students based on the results. AKM is a basic competency assessment that is administered to students in order to assess their ability to reason when confronted with problems that require literacy and numeracy skills. However, according to the most recent PISA survey in 2018, Indonesian students' numeracy ability has decreased compared to the previous survey in 2015, from a score of 389 to 379, ranking 74th out of 79 member countries. One of the impediments to students' numeracy skills is mathematics anxiety, which causes students to believe they are incapable of solving difficult math problems. The IBL learning model encourages students to use previously acquired information to generate new ideas/knowledge, as well as to explore questions and possibilities; these activities are thought to improve students' numeracy skills. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method was used in the research. The 2x2 factorial design with IBL and conventional learning models and locus of control is used (internal and external). For the 2020-2021 academic year, the research population includes all high school students in Duren Sawit Sub-district, with the research sample consisting of class XI students from Public High School 71 and Public High School 91 Jakarta. A random sampling technique was used to select the sample. 6 numeracy questions, a mathematics anxiety questionnaire, and a locus of control questionnaire were used, all of which had passed the content and empirical validation stages. The data was analyzed using the two-way ANOVA technique and the t-test. The findings revealed that using the IBL model had a significant effect on students' numeracy skills and anxiety in terms of locus of control.
