Abstract
Indonesia merupakan salah satu produsen nanas terbesar di Asia Tenggara sehingga limbah yang dihasilkannya terus meningkat setiap tahunnya. Kulit nanas yang memiliki banyak potensi merupakan salah satu limbah yang dihasilkannya. Dalam penelitian ini, limbah tersebut akan dimanfaatkan menjadi produk baru berupa film ramah lingkungan. Tahapan penelitian terdiri dari pembuatan Nata de Pina dan karakterisasi film yang dihasilkan. Film dibentuk dengan menggunakan empat variasi metode pengeringan. Berdasarkan pengujian, diperoleh empat film dengan karakterisasi yang berbeda – beda. Dimana hasil terbaik ditunjukkan oleh film yang dikeringkan menggunakan oven tanpa dipress terlebih dahulu. Film tersebut mem-iliki permukaan berupa serat tidak beraturan dengan nilai kuat tarik maksimum sebesar 0,57 MPa. Film yang dihasilkan juga memiliki aktivitas antibakteri yang baik terhadap bakteri E.coli dan S.Aureus, laju degradasi sebesar 0,33mg/hari, dan derajat pengembangan sebesar 276%. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa film berhasil disintesis menggunakan kulit nanas tetapi masih belum memenuhi Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) untuk diaplikasikan sebagai plastik komersil ************************************************************ Indonesia is one of the largest pineapple producers in Southeast Asia, so the waste it produces continues to increase every year. Pineapple skin which has a lot of potential is one of the wastes it produces. In this study, the waste will be used as a new product in the form of an environmentally friendly film. The research stages consisted of making Nata de Pina and characterizing the resulting film. Films were formed using four variations of drying methods. Based on the test, obtained four films with different characterizations. Where the best results are shown by the film which is dried using an oven without being pressed first. The film has a surface in the form of irregular fibers with a maximum tensile strength value of 0.57 MPa. The resulting film also has good antibacterial activity against E.coli and S.Aureus bacteria, the degradation rate is 0.33mg/day, and the degree of development is 276%. From this research, it can be concluded that the film was successfully synthesized using pineapple peel but still does not meet the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) to be applied as a commercial plastic.
