Abstract
******************************** Fern spores are light so they fly easily and stick to various places including in the bark called spore banks. The Arecaceae are often used as ornamental plants in urban, such as royal palms and oil palms. So it is very interesting to know what species of spores and study how it has potential as a spore bank, apart from being used as an ornamental tree in urban but also having different bark characteristics from other angiosperms. The method used in this research is descriptive method using purposive sampling technique. The research will be conducted in Bumi Perkemahan Cibubur and Plant Structure Laboratory University of Jakarta. The research take place from July 2021 to January 2022. The samples are mature royal palms epiphytes & non-piphytes and mature oil palms epiphytes & non-piphytes with stem diameter of min.15 cm . The sampling heights on the stems are 1.3m and 0.3m. The results showed that there were 15 types of fern spores. The types of fern spores found in royal palms and oil palms were Adiantum sp, Nephrolepis biserrata and Microlepia speluncae. There was no significant difference in the number of spore types in both hosts and at both sampling heights. Royal palm and oil palm have the same potential as fern spore banks.
