Abstract

Carangidae, Distribusi, Larva, Mullidae, Perikanan ***** Belitung Island possesses vital biological resources within its marine ecosystem. Fish larvae, particularly those from the Mullidae and Carangidae families, hold significant economic value. Understanding the abundance and distribution of fish larvae is essential for assessing fisheries potential and maintaining fish stock sustainability in a given area. This study aims to analyze the abundance, spatial distribution, and environmental parameters influencing the abundance of Mullidae and Carangidae larvae in the waters of Belitung Island. The research employs a descriptive method with a survey-based approach. The research procedures include the selection of 12 sampling stations using purposive sampling, fish larvae sampling, measurement of aquatic environmental parameters, and larvae identification. Data analysis is conducted descriptively, encompassing abundance analysis, distribution pattern analysis using Morisita’s index, spatial distribution mapping through heatmap analysis using QGIS software, and inferential analysis using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to examine the correlation between environmental parameters and the abundance of Mullidae and Carangidae families, utilizing PAST statistical software version 4.03.The findings indicate that the Mullidae family was identified with a total of 12 individuals, exhibiting the highest abundance at 23 individuals per m³, while the Carangidae family was identified with 7 individuals, with a peak abundance of 17 individuals per m³. Overall, both families displayed a clustered distribution pattern. The relationship between abundance and environmental factors reveals that the abundance of Mullidae is associated with temperature, transparency, dissolved oxygen (DO), turbidity, and current velocity, whereas Carangidae abundance does not exhibit a strong correlation with any specific environmental parameter.
