Abstract
Lipstik merupakan produk kosmetik yang diaplikasikan pada bibir dan sangat mungkin tertelan bersama air liur, makanan, atau minuman. Penggunaan pewarna sintetik yang berbahaya secara berulang dalam lipstik dapat menimbulkan dampak buruk bagi kesehatan. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan alternatif pewarna alami yang lebih aman, seperti ekstrak kulit buah manggis (Garcinia mangostana L.) yang mengandung senyawa antosianin sebagai pewarna alami karena kulit buah manggis berwarna ungu kemerahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasikan dan mengevaluasi mutu fisik lipstik dengan pewarna alami dari ekstrak kulit buah manggis berdasarkan acuan SNI 16-4769-1998 dan SNI 16-4399-1996. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimental laboratorium dengan teknik maserasi menggunakan etanol 96% sebagai pelarut. Tiga formula lipstik dibuat dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak: F1 (3 gram), F2 (5 gram), dan F3 (7 gram). Evaluasi mutu sediaan meliputi uji organoleptik, pH, stabilitas, homogenitas, daya lekat, titik leleh, dan uji hedonik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh formula memiliki stabilitas warna, tekstur, aroma, dan bentuk yang baik. Formula 2 dan 3 memenuhi syarat pH bibir (4,5–7), sementara formula 1 berada di bawah batas aman yaitu menunjukkan nilai pH 4,41. Ketiga formula menunjukkan kehomogenan yang baik tanpa partikel kasar, daya lekat lebih dari 4 detik, serta titik leleh yang sesuai standar (52–53,5°C). Berdasarkan hasil uji hedonik, formula 2 paling disukai panelis dan dinilai memiliki mutu serta karakteristik terbaik. ***** Lipstick is a cosmetic product applied to the lips and is likely to be ingested along with saliva, food, or drink. The repeated use of harmful synthetic dyes in lipstick can have adverse effects on health. Therefore, safer natural dye alternatives are needed, such as mangosteen fruit peel extract (Garcinia mangostana L.), which contains anthocyanin compounds as natural dyes due to the purple-red color of the mangosteen fruit peel. This study aims to formulate and evaluate the physical quality of lipstick using natural dyes from mangosteen peel extract based on the standards SNI 16-4769-1998 and SNI 16-4399-1996. The method used was laboratory experimentation with maceration techniques using 96% ethanol as a solvent. Three lipstick formulas were created with varying concentrations of extract: F1 (3 grams), F2 (5 grams), and F3 (7 grams). The quality evaluation of the formulations included organoleptic testing, pH measurement, stability testing, homogeneity testing, adhesion testing, melting point testing, and hedonic testing. The results showed that all formulas had good color, texture, aroma, and shape stability. Formulas 2 and 3 met the pH requirements for lips (4.5–7), while formula 1 was below the safe limit, showing a pH value of 4.41. All three formulas demonstrated good homogeneity without coarse particles, adhesion time exceeding 4 seconds, and melting points within the standard range (52–53.5°C). Based on hedonic testing results, Formula 2 was the most preferred by panelists and was evaluated as having the best quality and characteristics.
