Abstract

Indonesia memiliki potensi energi surya yang sangat besar karena intensitas penyinaran matahari yang tinggi sepanjang tahun, namun pemanfaatannya belum optimal. Salah satu kendala utama pada sistem panel surya adalah rendahnya efisiensi konversi akibat panas berlebih yang dihasilkan. Energi panas berlebih ini masih dapat dimanfaatkan dengan bantuan Thermoelectric Generator (TEG), yaitu mengubah perbedaan suhu menjadi energi listrik. Namun, kinerja TEG sangat bergantung pada seberapa besar selisih suhu antara sisi panas dan sisi dingin. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji pengaruh penggunaan aluminium fin heatsink sebagai metode pendinginan pasif untuk meningkatkan efisiensi sistem hibrida Photovoltaic-Thermoelectric Generator (PV-TEG). Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan membandingkan konfigurasi tanpa heatsink, heatsink 4 sirip, dan heatsink 11 sirip. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan heatsink mampu meningkatkan efisiensi sistem, masing-masing sebesar 0,64%, 0,83%, dan 0,87%. Konfigurasi heatsink 11 sirip menghasilkan daya rata-rata tertinggi sebesar 0,2148 W dan perbedaan suhu (∆T) sebesar 11,57°C. Peningkatan jumlah sirip memperbesar luas permukaan konveksi, menjaga suhu sisi dingin tetap rendah, dan meningkatkan daya keluaran sistem. Dengan demikian, heatsink aluminium efektif meningkatkan kinerja PV-TEG secara lebih hemat energi dan biaya. ***** Indonesia has significant solar energy potential due to high solar radiation intensity throughout the year; however, its utilization remains suboptimal. One of the main limitations of solar panel systems is their low conversion efficiency caused by excess heat generation. This excess heat can still be utilized through a Thermoelectric Generator (TEG), which converts temperature differences into electrical energy. However, TEG performance highly depends on the magnitude of the temperature difference between the hot and cold sides. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of using aluminum fin heatsinks as a passive cooling method to enhance the efficiency of a hybrid photovoltaic-Thermoelectric Generator (PV-TEG) system. The method used is experimental, comparing configurations without a heatsink, with a 4-fin heatsink, and with an 11-fin heatsink. The results show that the use of a heatsink improves system efficiency, with values of 0.64%, 0.83%, and 0.87%, respectively. The 11-fin heatsink configuration produced the highest average power output of 0.2148 W and a temperature difference (∆T) of 11.57°C. Increasing the number of fins enlarges the convection surface area, maintains a lower cold-side temperature, and enhances the system's power output. Thus, aluminum heatsinks effectively improve PV-TEG performance in a more energy and cost-efficient manner.
