Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran ibu rumah tangga sebagai pengrajin rotan dalam meningkatkan pendapatan rumah tangga di RW 001 Desa Sindangjawa, Kecamatan Dukupuntang, Kabupaten Cirebon, serta mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor pendorongnya. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus, penelitian melibatkan tujuh ibu rumah tangga pengrajin rotan dan dua suami mereka sebagai informan, dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ibu rumah tangga berperan aktif dalam menghasilkan pendapatan tambahan rata-rata Rp100.000–Rp300.000 per minggu melalui kegiatan anyaman rotan, yang digunakan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pokok seperti bahan makanan, listrik, gas, dan jajan anak. Peran ibu rumah tangga ini diimbangi dengan manajemen waktu fleksibel, dengan prioritas pada pekerjaan rumah tangga. Faktor pendorong utama meliputi kebutuhan ekonomi, pendapatan suami yang tidak tetap, pengaruh, serta motivasi internal untuk mandiri. Tantangan seperti keterlambatan bahan baku dari pengesub diatasi melalui adaptasi dan kolaborasi komunitas. Proses pembelajaran keterampilan anyaman terjadi secara nonformal melalui pengamatan dan praktik mandiri, mencerminkan konsep lifelong learning dalam pendidikan masyarakat. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya pemberdayaan perempuan melalui pendidikan informal untuk mendukung kemandirian ekonomi keluarga, dengan implikasi bagi program pelatihan berbasis komunitas oleh pemerintah daerah. ***** This study aims to describe the role of housewives as rattan craftsmen in increasing household income in RW 001 Sindangjawa Village, Dukupuntang District, Cirebon Regency, and to identify the driving factors. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, the research involved seven housewives who are rattan craftsmen and their two husbands as informants, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that housewives played an active role in generating additional income averaging Rp100,000–Rp300,000 per week through rattan weaving, which was used to meet basic needs such as food, electricity, gas, and children's snacks. The role of housewives is balanced with flexible time management, with priority given to household chores. The main driving factors include economic needs, irregular husband's income, influence, and internal motivation for independence. Challenges such as delays in raw material delivery from suppliers were overcome through community adaptation and collaboration. The process of learning weaving skills took place informally through observation and independent practice, reflecting the concept of lifelong learning in community education. This study emphasizes the importance of empowering women through informal education to support family economic independence, with implications for community-based training programs by local governments.
