Abstract
***** MBKM policy encourages university students to engage in practice-based learning, one of which is implemented through the Studi Independen Bersertifikat (SIB) E-Commerce program, which requires students to produce a final report as a form of academic accountability. This study aims to examine the representation of final report writing skills of SIB E-Commerce students through an analysis of social function, generic structure, and lexico-grammar in students’ final reports. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, with data drawn from ten final reports written by SIB E-Commerce students from batches 1 to 3, covering sections from the abstract to Chapter IV. The findings indicate that students’ final reports predominantly function to document the implementation process of the program, students’ roles in projects, work-related activities, and learning outcomes. In terms of generic structure, most reports follow the stages recommended in the program guidelines, although variations in completeness and proportional distribution across sections remain evident. Based on their genre characteristics, students’ final reports can be classified as hybrid reports, integrating descriptive, classificational, and compositional elements. From a lexico-grammatical perspective, the dominance of material and relational processes, along with clear participant representation, reflects students’ ability to construct objective and informative ideational meanings. Assessment using a genre-based analytic rubric shows that students’ writing skills fall into the very good category, with an average score of 4.71, although mechanical aspects still require further improvement. These findings confirm that SIB E-Commerce students’ final reports represent academic writing skills that align with the characteristics of the report genre within a practice-based learning context.
