Abstract
ABSTRAK Seni lukis ekspresi merupakan media visual yang memungkinkan individu menyalurkan pengalaman batin, emosi, dan kondisi psikologis secara simbolik melalui unsur visual. Pada individu dengan gangguan emosional, karya seni lukis tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai objek estetis, tetapi juga sebagai media komunikasi nonverbal yang memuat makna emosional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis makna emosional dalam karya seni lukis ekspresi individu dengan gangguan emosional melalui pendekatan semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus terhadap dua subjek, yaitu Neza dan Clarisa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi karya seni lukis, wawancara mendalam, serta dokumentasi proses penciptaan karya. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif-interpretatif dengan menggunakan relasi triadik semiotika Peirce yang meliputi representamen, objek, dan interpretan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karya seni lukis ekspresi merepresentasikan dinamika emosional dan kondisi batin subjek, serta menunjukkan pergeseran makna dari luapan emosi negatif menuju kesadaran dan kestabilan emosional. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa seni lukis ekspresi berperan sebagai media sublimasi, katarsis, dan refleksi psikologis individu dengan gangguan emosional. Kata kunci: seni lukis ekspresi, semiotika Peirce, makna emosional, gangguan emosional ***** ABSTRACT Expressive painting is a visual medium that enables individuals to channel inner experiences, emotions, and psychological conditions symbolically through visual elements. For individuals experiencing emotional disorders, artworks function not only as aesthetic objects but also as nonverbal communication media that convey emotional meanings. This study aims to analyze the emotional meanings contained in expressive painting artworks created by individuals with emotional disorders using Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotic approach. This research employs a qualitative method with a case study design involving two participants, namely Neza and Clarisa. Data were collected through observation of painting artworks, in-depth interviews, and documentation of the creative process. Data analysis was conducted using a descriptive-interpretative approach based on Peirce’s triadic semiotic relation, consisting of representamen, object, and interpretant. The findings indicate that expressive painting artworks represent the emotional dynamics and inner conditions of the participants, showing a shift in meaning from the release of negative emotions toward emotional awareness and stability. This study confirms that expressive painting serves as a medium of sublimation, catharsis, and psychological reflection for individuals with emotional disorders.
