Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis eksistensi tradisi lisan di tengah modernisasi perkotaan, khususnya mengenai bentuk internalisasi, proses transmisi, dan tipologi tindakan sosial masyarakat urban terhadap pamali seperti memotong kuku malam hari, duduk di depan pintu, dan menyapu tidak bersih di Kebon Manggis, Matraman, Jakarta Timur. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dokumentasi, dan triangulasi pada tiga klaster generasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Internalisasi pamali mengalami demitologisasi, bergeser dari aspek mistis ke pemaknaan rasional-fungsional (keselamatan, etika, dan higienitas). 2) Transmisi menempatkan keluarga sebagai agen primer, namun generasi muda menerapkan filtered acceptance berbasis literasi digital yang membatasi efektivitasnya pada ruang domestik. 3) Tipologi tindakan sosial masyarakat terstratifikasi berdasarkan usia; kelompok lansia didominasi tindakan tradisional (kepatuhan mutlak), usia produktif oleh tindakan rasional instrumental (kalkulasi fungsi), dan remaja oleh tindakan rasional nilai sebagai wujud penjagaan batas moral dan penghormatan orang tua. ***** This study aims to analyze the existence of oral traditions amidst urban modernization, specifically focusing on the form of internalization, transmission process, and typology of social action of urban society towards pamali (prohibitions on cutting nails at night, sitting in front of the doorway, and sweeping uncleanly) in Kebon Manggis, Matraman, East Jakarta. The method used is qualitative descriptive, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, and triangulation across three generation clusters. The results indicate that: 1) The internalization of pamali undergoes demythologization, shifting from mystical aspects to rational-functional meanings (safety, ethics, and hygiene). 2) Transmission relies on the family as the primary agent, yet the younger generation applies internet-based "filtered acceptance," limiting its efficacy to domestic spaces. 3) The typology of social action is stratified by age; the elderly are dominated by traditional action (absolute obedience), the productive age by rational-instrumental action (functional calculation), and the youth by rational-value action as a form of maintaining moral boundaries and respect for parents.
