Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas dinamika perkembangan Hallyu K-pop di Indonesia dari subculture menuju pop culture pada periode 2007-2019. Pada awal perkembangannya, Hallyu K-pop hanya dikenal oleh komunitas penggemar tertentu, namun seiring berkembangnya globalisasi budaya, kemajuan media digital, industri hiburan Korea Selatan, serta diplomasi budaya Korea Selatan, Hallyu K-pop berkembang menjadi budaya populer yang diterima secara luas oleh masyarakat Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merekonstruksi perkembangan awal Hallyu K-pop di Indonesia, menganalisis proses transformasinya dari subculture menuju pop culture, serta menjelaskan faktor- faktor yang mendorong perubahan tersebut dan dampaknya terhadap budaya populer di Indonesia. Penelitian ini ditulis secara deskriptif-naratif dengan menggunakan metode sejarah menurut Kuntowijoyo yang meliputi heuristik, kritik sumber (verifikasi), interpretasi, dan historiografi. Secara temporal penelitian dibatasi pada tahun 2007-2019, sedangnkan secara spasial penelitian berfokus pada Indonesia sebagai wilayah penyebaran Hallyu K-pop. Sumber yang digunakan terdiri atas surat kabar, dokumen resmi, artikel media massa, buku, jurnal ilmiah, serta penelitian terdahulu yang relevan. Hasil penelitian diharapkan menunjukkan bahwa transformasi Hallyu K-pop dari subculture menuju pop culture merupakan proses historis yang dipengaruhi oleh globalisasi budaya, perkembangan media digital, strategi industri hiburan Korea Selatan, serta diplomasi budaya melalui soft power. Transformasi tersebut tidak hanya memperluas penerimaan masyarakat terhadap budaya populer Korea, tetapi juga memberikan pengaruh terhadap gaya hidup, industri kreatif, dan hubungan budaya antara Indonesia dan Korea Selatan.***** This study examines the dynamics of the development of the K-pop Hallyu in Indonesia from a subculture to pop culture during the period 2007–2019. In its early stages, K-pop Hallyu was known only to specific fan communities; however, with the advancement of cultural globalization, digital media, the South Korean entertainment industry, and South Korea’s culturaldiplomacy, K-pop Hallyu evolved into a popular culture widely accepted by the Indonesian public. This study aims to reconstruct the early development of Hallyu K-pop in Indonesia, analyze its transformation from a subculture to a pop culture, and explain the factors driving this change and its impact on popular culture in Indonesia. This study is written in a descriptive-narrative style using Kuntowijoyo’s historical method, which includes heuristics, source criticism (verification), interpretation, and historiography. Temporally, the study is limited to the years 2007–2019, while spatially, it focuses on Indonesia as the region where Hallyu K-pop spread. The sources used consist of newspapers, official documents, mass media articles, books, scientific journals, and relevant previous studies. The research findings are expected to demonstrate that the transformation of Hallyu K-pop from a subculture to pop culture is a historical process influenced by cultural globalization, the development of digital media, the strategies of South Korea’s entertainment industry, and cultural diplomacy through soft power. This transformation not only broadens public acceptance of Korean popular culture but also influences lifestyles, the creative industries, and cultural relations between Indonesia and South Korea.
