Abstract

Perkembangan keterampilan 4C pada abad ke-21 sejalan dengan perkembangan keterampilan hidup, salah satunya keterampilan berargumentasi ilmiah. Namun, kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa dinilai masih rendah karena kurangnya keterlibatan aktif siswa dalam pembelajaran yang memicu argumentasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model REACT berbasis Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) terhadap kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa pada materi hukum dasar kimia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain quasi experimental melalui pretest-posttest non equivalent control group design. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa soal uraian terbuka (open-ended essay). Partisipan penelitian ini berjumlah 88 siswa kelas X di salah satu SMA Negeri Bekasi tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Data kuantitatif dianalisis menggunakan independent t-test dan paired t-test dimana menunjukkan hasil bahwa kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa di kedua kelas mengalami peningkatan. Namun, peningkatan kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah di kelas eksperimen lebih besar dibandingkan di kelas kontrol. Selain itu, terjadi peningkatan level kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa di kelas eksperimen dari Level 1 dan Level 2 menjadi Level 3 dan Level 4. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran REACT berbasis Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) mampu meningkatkan kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa pada materi hukum dasar kimia. ***** The development of 4C skills in the 21st century goes hand in hand with the development of life skills, one of them is scientific argumentation. However, students’ scientific argumentation skills are still considered low due to a lack of active student engagement in learning activities that stimulate argumentation. This study aims to determine the effect of REACT learning model based on Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) on students’ scientific argumentation skills in basic chemical laws. This study employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The instrument used consisted of open-ended essay questions. The study participants consisted of 88 tenth-grade students at a public high school in Bekasi during the 2025/2026 academic year. Quantitative data were analyzed using independent t-test and paired t-test, which showed that students’ scientific argumentation skills in both classes improved. However, the increase was greater in the experimental class than in the control class. In addition, students’ scientific argumentation skills in the experimental class increased from Levels 1 and 2 to Levels 3 and 4. It can be concluded that the REACT learning model based on Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) is effective to enhance students’ scientific argumentation skills in basic chemical laws.
