Abstract

Berpikir kritis merupakan keterampilan penting yang dituntut dalam Kurikulum Merdeka, namun kondisi di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan tersebut masih tergolong rendah, salah satunya pada pembelajaran biologi materi sistem reproduksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) dengan pendekatan Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis murid pada materi sistem reproduksi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 64 murid kelas XI SMA Negeri 50 Jakarta yang terdiri atas 32 murid pada kelas eksperimen dan 32 murid pada kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen menerapkan model TAI dengan pendekatan STEM, sedangkan kelas kontrol menggunakan model Discovery Learning dengan pendekatan saintifik. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes esai kemampuan berpikir kritis berdasarkan enam indikator Facione, yaitu interpretasi, analisis, evaluasi, inferensi, eksplanasi, dan regulasi diri. Hasil uji validitas menunjukkan 21 dari 28 butir soal dinyatakan valid dengan nilai reliabilitas Cronbach’s Alpha sebesar 0,933. Hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan independent sample t-test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,139 (p > 0,05), sehingga H₀ diterima. Hasil uji effect size menunjukkan nilai Cohen’s d sebesar 0,37 yang termasuk kategori kecil. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) dengan pendekatan STEM tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis murid pada materi sistem reproduksi. Meskipun demikian, model pembelajaran ini tetap dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif pembelajaran yang menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis murid. ***** Critical thinking is an essential skill demanded by the Merdeka Curriculum; however, field conditions indicate that this ability remains low, particularly in Biology learning on reproductive system material. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) learning model with a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) approach on students’ critical thinking skills in reproductive system material. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 64 eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 50 Jakarta, including 32 students in the experimental class and 32 students in the control class. The experimental class was taught using the TAI learning model with a STEM approach, while the control class received Discovery Learning with a scientific approach. The research instrument was an essay test of critical thinking skills based on Facione’s six indicators: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. The validity test showed that 21 out of 28 items were valid, with a Cronbach’s Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.933. The hypothesis testing using an independent samples t-test yielded a significance value of 0.139 (p > 0.05), indicating that the null hypothesis (H₀) was accepted. Furthermore, the effect size analysis produced a Cohen's d value of 0.37, which falls into the small effect category. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) learning model integrated with the STEM approach did not have a statistically significant effect on students' critical thinking skills in the reproductive system topic. Nevertheless, this learning model may still serve as an alternative instructional approach, as it demonstrated an increase in students' average critical thinking scores.
