Abstract

Meme Internet merupakan salah satu bentuk komunikasi digital yang memadukan unsur verbal, visual, dan konteks dalam merealisasikan tindakan komunikatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis tindak tutur ilokusi yang direalisasikan dalam meme Internet berbahasa Prancis yang dipublikasikan pada subreddit r/FrenchMemes berdasarkan klasifikasi tindak tutur ilokusi Sbisà (2023). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi. Sumber data penelitian adalah meme Internet berbahasa Prancis yang dipublikasikan pada subreddit r/FrenchMemes, yang secara khusus berfokus pada meme yang berkaitan dengan Prancis dan frankofoni. Sebanyak 48 meme Internet berbahasa Prancis yang dipublikasikan pada subreddit r/FrenchMemes hingga 15 Juni 2026 dan memenuhi kriteria penelitian digunakan sebagai korpus penelitian. Data penelitian berupa unsur verbal dalam setiap meme, yang dianalisis dengan mempertimbangkan unsur visual dan konteks yang menyertainya sebagai satu artefak komunikasi multimodal menggunakan tahapan analisis Miles et al. (2014) serta klasifikasi tindak tutur ilokusi menurut Sbisà (2023). Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya 47 tindak tutur ilokusi Verdictive dan 1 tindak tutur ilokusi Behabitive, sedangkan tindak tutur Exercitive dan Commissive tidak ditemukan dalam korpus. Temuan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa meme dalam korpus penelitian lebih dominan digunakan untuk merumuskan pengetahuan evaluatif mengenai tokoh, peristiwa, kebijakan, dan fenomena sosial melalui keterpaduan unsur verbal, visual, konteks, serta konvensi meme sebagai satu artefak komunikasi multimodal. Penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa pada meme yang bergantung pada referensi eksternal, rekonstruksi pengetahuan evaluatif sebagai efek konvensional tindak tutur ilokusi memerlukan pengetahuan kontekstual mengenai peristiwa, tokoh, isu, maupun referensi budaya yang dirujuk oleh meme. ***** Internet memes are a form of digital communication that combines verbal, visual, and contextual elements in realizing communicative actions. This study aims to identify and describe the types of illocutionary speech acts realized in French-language Internet memes published on the subreddit r/FrenchMemes based on the classification of illocutionary speech acts proposed by Sbisà (2023). This study employs a qualitative approach with content analysis. The data source consists of French-language Internet memes published on the subreddit r/FrenchMemes, which specifically focuses on memes related to France and the Francophone world. A total of 48 French-language Internet memes published on the subreddit r/FrenchMemes up to June 15, 2026, and meeting the research criteria were used as the research corpus. The research data consist of the verbal elements in each meme, which were analyzed by considering the accompanying visual elements and context as a single multimodal communicative artifact, using the data analysis stages of Miles et al. (2014) and the classification of illocutionary speech acts proposed by Sbisà (2023). The analysis identified 47 Verdictive illocutionary speech acts and 1 Behabitive illocutionary speech act, while no Exercitive or Commissive illocutionary speech acts were found in the corpus. These findings indicate that the memes in the research corpus are predominantly used to formulate evaluative knowledge concerning figures, events, policies, and social phenomena through the integration of verbal, visual, contextual elements, and meme conventions as a single multimodal communicative artifact. The study also demonstrates that, in memes relying on external references, reconstructing evaluative knowledge as the conventional effect of an illocutionary speech act requires contextual knowledge concerning the events, figures, issues, or cultural references to which the meme refers.
