Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa penggunaan dan penerjemahan majas pada puisi berbahasa Indonesia yang diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Inggris. Metodelogi yang diterapkan pada penelitian ini adalah analisa deskriptif. Kumpulan puisi Sapardi Djoko Damono yang berjudul Hujan Bulan Juni merupakan hasil karya beliau yang begitu popular. Di dalamnya terdapat kumpulan puisi bertemakan ketuhanan, cinta, dan kehidupan manusia. Penelitian ini secara khusus akan membandingan penggunaan majas dan penerjemahannya dari segi kata dan metode apa yang dipakai di setiap barisnya. Penulis akan menganalisa puisi sebagai sumber data. Dari analisa, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penulis puisi dalam analisa ini lebih banyak menggunakan majas hiperbola untuk menekankan pesan yang ada di dalam puisi tersebut dan majas-majas tersebut diterjemahkan oleh penerjemah dengan metode kata per kata. Penerjemah lebih menekankan unsur struktual untuk mempertahankan keindahan yang terkandung di dalam puisi tersebut. Semoga, hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi referensi berguna untuk penelitian selanjutnya dalam menganalisa penerjemahan puisi serta memperkaya kajian sastra di Jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris ***** The purpose of this study is to analyze the use and the translation of figure of speech in the Indonesian language poetry that is translated into English. The method employed in this study is descriptive analysis. The anthology of Sapardi Djoko Damono entitled Hujan Bulan Juni is his famous works. The theme of the poetry is about human life, love and God. This study will specifically compare the use of the figure of speech and how it is translated word by word and what kind of method is used to translate it. The writer will analyze the original and translated version of the anthology as source of data. Through the analysis, it can be concluded that the writer of poetry often using hyperbole in his poetry to emphasize the message and the translator used word for word method to translate it. The translator emphasizes the structural form to keep the beautifulness of the poetry. Hopefully, the results of this research can be a useful reference for further research in analyzing the translation of poetry as well as enriching the study of literature in the Department of English Language and Literature.
